January 15, 2011 - Magic

We will be joining everyone for the fun, this is our 2nd trip - last one was Oct 2008 -Me, DW, DS,11 and DD, 8!
We head to WDW this June 27 through Juy 7th for a vacation with the family, staying AK and then BLT -then DW and I are doing Wine and Dine half marathon in Oct then Cruise in Jan - Life is Good!

so excited!!! this will be our first time at disney world and on the cruise!!!! we have 2 kids Raleigh will be 8 and Maren will be 6 on the date of depature!!! I am so looking forward to what will hopefully be the start of some great memories and cruises!! we are from Victoria Canada, and we are looking forward to the beautiful blue water and white sand beaches!!! how do we get a FE?

I looked at the rooms available in most of the categories and there are either only a few rooms left or they are in GTY. Our cruise was also the most expensive one of the January cruises which led me to believe that it is selling well.

I hear ya, I was looking and looking and saw the prices go up, so I booked about 3 weeks ago so I didn't have to worry about any more price increases!! We are all so excited over here!!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to welcome all the new people to this cruise meet. It is great to have more people joining us. I wanted to share a little bit about what I know of the FE exchange since I saw that there was some questions. There is a fish outside of every cabin (it is used for the crew to deliver notes and information to you) but at some point people began making fish extenders and they are used for the FE exchange. The FE exchange is basically everyone that participates would give gifts to the other families involved in the exchange, these gifts get left in the pockets of the FE. It is fun, my children always get so excited when we would return to our cabin and they would find little goodies it adds to the MAGIC of the cruise. Like a previous poster said you can buy FE's on ebay or make your own. These are the directions I used to make mine a few years ago.

You need 1/4 yard of fabric, iron interfacing, wide double fold bias tape, and a 3/8" dowel 8" long.

Pockets are 11" X 5 1/2"
Back is 32" X 8"

Cut out backing and pockets then iron on interfacing.
Sew bias tape on top of pocket
pleat once on each side and pin bottom of pocket so that it is 8" wide.
baste, then pin bias tape on bottom and sew on
Pin pockets on backing and sew bottom of pocket to backing
Pin and baste around entire outside of project.
Pin then sew bias tape around outside edge of whole fish extender
fold top over leaving room for you dowel at top and sew along the inside of bias tape down each side to secure.

I hope that helps. Let me know if anyone wants more info I will be happy to share anything I know about this.

Teresa,

So are you planning on making these FE for your niece and nephews??

Maybe posting a pic of your FE would help.....

Somehow I missed then last few posts. Must have been too fast with the delete key. Glad there are more people joinin us.

My TA made me a FE. I took pictures but still haven't taken it off my camera. I'm hoping that after school starts again and I have time to myself, I'll get motivated again to find a good gift to make.

We are Me, Dh and Ds(7)

Hello Everyone!
My family just booked our first Disney Cruise and we are sooooo excited! Obviously we will be joining all of you for the January 15th eastern cruise on the Magic :cool1:
My husband and i have cruised before but this will be the first time with the kids and we figured what could be more kid friendly then Disney? I'm (almost) 27 my DH is 32 DD just turned 2 and DS is almost 4 months old so i guess the vacation is more for me and DH but we are looking forward to seeing DD's reaction to her favorite Disney characters :goodvibes I'm looking forward to chatting with all of you as our cruise date arrives!

Did you hear our cruise now has a Kids Sale Free for veranda rooms. Catagories 7-4, I think.

Yes  .... We're probably going to be on this one with you, although we also have a Western booked for the week after. When I first booked, only Cat 4 was available. I have since been able to drop down to a Cat 5 so the price is very similar between the Eastern and Western. We've done this Eastern cruise twice before (Jan 2007 - St. Marten / St. Thomas and Jan 2009 - St. Croix / St. Thomas) and with the Kids Sail Free, we're paying almost 25% less than we did in '07 and '09. So, unless something comes up in the next month (before final payment due), we'll be on this cruise with everyone.

We've done the Fish Extender before and will be interested in doing it again.

We are: Wendy, Neil, DD Lillian - 9, DS Ben - 6

We just booked our very first cruise!! We will be sailing on this January 15th ship and are so excited and overwhelmed at the planning! :) Soooo - is this the only thread for this specific sailing? I only ask because so many of the other sailings have many pages of posts and this one looks lonely

Anyone sailing with child that is 2 or 3? We will have DD that will be 2 (close to 3) on board with us.
