January 13, 2007 - 7 Night Magic Western

My name is Impala and I endorse skylynx's message....:cool1:

Certainly the wonderful weather helped to make this a great cruise. (I am now walking around the office in a polo shirt just to show off the tan).
Denise is writing the trip report so I don’t want to steal her thunder, but one magic moment was riding the elevator up to Palo with just Chip and Dale – trying getting far enough away to take a photo… All you can see is a huge chocolate nose.

Another measure of a great cruise is that my belt now tightens two holes earlier…popcorn::

Great meeting you all. p.s. (I have asked dreams unlimited for a bringing the magic home quote)

How about it. A rollcall for future cruises?
We're in the que (booked a dummy date aboard, looking for Jan. 2009 or later)
who else is in again and when?

We're going again -but we don't know exactly when yet. We booked a "dummy" date on board and filled out the form for the Eastbound canal transit in Aug 2008. She told us that DCL would call us "before January 31st" with prices, room selection, etc. so we could complete the booking. Well, we still haven't heard anything!

If the canal doesn't work out for us, then we will probably do the double-dip in October 2008 (I think it is the 25th).

yup ~ we're going back too. I will be on the phone tomorrow trying to get through to DCL to switch our dummy date to a 4 night double dip in August 2008. I think I want to try and get SPH rooms this time, so I don't want to wait too long to call. Then I need to transfer to DU by the end of the day to get their double onboard credit special that expires tomorrow. Wish me luck!

We also booked a dummy date, but we're waiting to get in line tomorrow for the August REPO cruise from CA through the Panama Canal and back to FL. Here's praying it is less than $10K!!

We are definately hooked and going again. But, I am mad at everyone here for not filling me in on this dummy date thing. Sure, keep the good things to yourselves, I see how you roll . Anyway, we are probably looking into a Jan '09 date. We really enjoy this time of year to go away.

Btw I am going to post a trip report in the next couple of days so here is the link if anyone is interested. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1342280

Just like Pam, I filled out a request form during our cruise. I called DCL today and they searched around for me. The CM told me they will begin calling people who have filled out those forms today but since our name starts with T they probably won't get to us until tomorrow morning. She suggested that I go ahead and call at 8am EST and they would coordinate my request at that time so that we would receive a shipboard credit. I still don't know what the cost will be but I think I'll do just that!

Best of luck to everyone!

They tried a bunch of different things, but in the end we requested new rooms. There were none, the cruise was sold out.

Patricia,

There was an available room...you could have had mine. My family and I got off the ship in Key West due to illness. (the ship was rocking a little too much for me) So our room was available they day the cruise was in Key West.

Don't worry our trip was still wonderful. We rented a car and drove up the coast to Orlando and spent the rest of the week in Disney World. :upsidedow

My DH and DD did book another trip for March 2008. I'm staying on land this time. (too bad because this was our third cruise...I used to LOVE them :sad1: )

And, as for DVC...we are members and LOVE it !!  That was the best purchase we have ever made. We bought into SSR 2 years ago and have since added more points. Can't get enough of the Florida vacations. The Vero Beach resort is wonderful...

So if you joined while on board Welcome Home! :)

We would have loved to switch. It was probably because we had three cabins that they didn't even mention it. Who knows... The shoreside customer service people have contacted me regarding the whole thing. I'm playing phone tag with the gentleman. They're very polite and apologetic and have offered a "good will gesture" Accepting their good will gesture means spending more money for me. They're willing to give us 25% off on our next cruise (not sure I wat to cruise with Disney again) or three day park hoppers. Either way, I'm spending more money with Disney...on another cruise or in their parks and hotels. Seems kind of funny that their good will gesture involves me giving Disney more money. We should've gotten off with you in Key West. I feel like such an idiot when people ask me about this trip. I spent so much time planning and being excited that everyone knew where we were going. Now that I'm back at work everyone is asking how it was and I dread hearing the question.

Hi Everyone!

DH just discovered that DCL did NOT charge our deposit for our onboard booking to our Visa! Our reservation seems to have been dropped since we can't pull it up at the website.

Fortunately, it isn't drastic for us since it was a placeholder cruise anyway and we ended up getting the panama canal cruise in 2008 that we wanted due to the form we filled out on board. However, we were talking about keeping it in order to have it to transfer to a 2009 cruise when they become available.

If you booked another cruise onboard - take a minute to check that DCL did charge your deposit. It is past the due date and the reservation will have been dropped if they didn't. I am going to call DCL tomorrow morning and throw fits! This seems to have happened to other DISers on the Magic in December and on the cruise before ours. Since there hasn't been too much posted, I assume that DCL has fixed this for people who have called in.

It looks like the mouse is adding two new reasons to go again!

We booked a dummy date thinking to go again in 2009, but now we may hold off a litttle longer. Since we've already done the Eastern, Western and 3 day, I 'm curious to see where the new boats will be sailing,

Any bets on a West coast port w/ Alaska, Hawaii & Mexican Riviera sailings?

Now comes the hardest part - waiting.
