Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

You should have let your dog out when you saw that man. His dog would have stopped mid-stream and both of them would have went running! :teeth:

Geez, how much chili did you make?!?! A 55-gallon drum? :lmao: I love chili, but I only love it with beans (the kidney beans are the best part!). Since I am now allergic to beans, I don't even make it anymore. Maybe this winter I will try to make some without beans. I'm sure it won't be the same... :sad2:

Try renting some exercise DVDs from Netflix/Blockbuster. That will give you some different things to try. And get that bike out and ride to the beach!

Today I was 154.4 again.

20 minutes of cardio

#5 last night - grilled chix w/BBQ sauce

Today -

#1 curry chix on a salad, 1 banana, oj
#2 curry chix on a salad, 1/2 banana
#3 turkey, lf cheese on rye
#4 Milk Duds!!!!! I'm so addicted to those things in the movie theater.

In the wine dept - Dh's friend returned from Costa Rica. He gave us a bottle of wine he bought there - I hope its good - He was there for 6 weeks and its a brand he enjoys.
I also found a local place that sells FL wines - I can't wait to try the mango.

We saw The Omen tonight. ( I love Liev Schreiber - he's good in everything I've ever seen him in.) Ds and I wanted to see it so the three of us went. I can't believe we've actually seen two movies in two months with ds. Before this I don't think we'd seen a movie with him since he was 15. Ds is warming up in his old age!

Amy, sorry to hear that you have a bean allergy - I love beans in chili, quesadillas etc. Thats got to be hard. As you can tell, I love chili - I make a huge pot & it goes fast.

I have a yoga workout and a Kathy Smith Ball dvd on my Netflix queue. Hopefully, they'll get me remotivated to stick with working out and losing some weight!

Curry Chix sounds good! Couldn't eat that much chili though. :rotfl2:

Glad you all had fun at the movies. So you are saying there is hope for those of us just getting ready for the teenage years? Our babies will morph back into real humans again? Good to know! DD just turned 12 so she is not officially a teenager, but the "previews" of things to come are happening more frequently.

What happened? You did so good last time avoiding the Milk Duds!! Maybe next time you can resist...

We are all done with our Florida wine. I loved the "Category 5" white sangria and the blueberry and the mango. They are very sweet, but there are some that were not as sweet. I like the sweet wines!

It does stink I can't eat beans. I tried some a couple months ago and got the familiar tingling down my throat, so I didn't go any further. I am hoping I grow out of it, since I grew into it...

I'm glad to see you are getting some new exercise DVDs to try! :cheer2:

finishing up yesterday's meals
last meal - bagel w/lowfat cheese

Today I did a 30 minute weight workout and 10 minutes of yoga

#1 watermelon
#2 eggwhite scramble w/ham and lf cheese, oj

Anna, with teens you never know. One day might be great - the next a struggle. There is always something different. Younger ds is very headstrong too which doesn't help at all. That chix salad with curry is so good - ds and I were fighting over it. Next time I'll have to make more.

Amy, those Florida wines you got sound so good. I usually buy my wine from a wine warehouse and they don't carry any Florida wines. The wine store which does carry the wines is about a 20 minute drive from my house with lots of traffic so I probably won't be going there anytime soon.

Hope I don't break another tooth from eating those Milk Duds - I'm so addicted to them. I can't see a movie without them - its like people who smoke want to have a cigarette with their morning coffee. I want Milk Duds with my movie. The big movie theater doesn't carry them anymore so I have to sneak in my own!

I'm looking forward to some new execise routines!

Hey Jane!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I've been busy with work and getting ready for Mom and Dad's 50th this weekend, but thinking of you and hope things are going well.

Enjoy the weekend! :sunny:

Jane, after reading your post, I almost bought $160 worth of wine from keywestwinery.com. That is where we stopped in Key West and got all our yummy wine! I still might buy a couple bottles for special occasions... It's only a 20 minutes drive, what are you waiting for?!?!? Everything is a 20 minute drive here... :confused3

OK, you are really bad if you are sneaking in Milk Duds! That right there is the big hint that you shouldn't be eating them!!!! There have been a couple times I have taken a Balance Bar (chocolate chip trail mix kind) - that would be MUCH healthier for you...

You are being very consistent with your workouts, way to go! :cool1:

yesterday's meals -
1 turkey sandwich w/lf cheese, 1/2 banana, grapes, mocha bar
1 bowl of chili w/2 slices of bread w/butter, mocha bar, cranberry juice

Today I did 20 minutes of walking

food -
#1 turkey LC meal w/apples & stuffing
#2 cup of chili, 2 mocha bars

Kate, you must be swamped getting everything ready for the party. Have a great time & don't get overwhelmed. It was great hearing from you.

Amy, I get a very sweet Italian white wine that is delicious. Its called Villa Giada and under that it says Andrea Faccio. The top of the label says Audree. At the very bottom it says Moscato D'Asti. Its sweet and a little sparkly. Its great for dessert when you don't want anything heavy. Even dh likes it.

The other wine store is out on St Armands Key and I hate to face that traffic. They have a traffic circle out there thats crazy - and parking is a pain. Next time we go out I'm making a list & getting several different bottles to last for awhile. Don't get me wrong - its fun to go out there - we usualy hit a couple art galleries and find somewhere to eat lunch & of course make a stop at the homemade candy store. In the meantime that Italian wine & champagne will have to do!

I've copied your Key West Winery address & will look it up. In the past, we couldn't order wine to be delivered thru the mail in Florida. They were talking about changing that law & hopefully they have but I can't remember if it went thru or not. I'm sure the winery knows - in the past when I looked at wines over the internet it would say something along the lines of 'no delivery in the state of Florida'. If I can get it over the internet - it would probably be cheaper to buy it from your site than to drive clear out to St Armands anyway. Things are always very expensive out there.

I see you made chilli again :-)

Jane, milk duds are not good for you or your teeth! Must not smuggle milk duds!

Way to go with your exercise!

I will have to try to find that Italian wine. Sounds yummy! I did some damage at the Key West Winery ($150 worth!). But that will be our "special occasion" wine... On the website there is a disclaimer about shipping but it says the only state they cannot ship to is MA. You should be OK but you might want to check your state law. AZ just passed the bill on June 1st!

How did your weekend go? Mine was great life-wise, awful food and drink-wise. Oh well, today starts a new week!

I decided I had to get out to that winery after posting with Amy. Thats my Epcot wine & I want some! I was off work this weekend so dh & I headed out to St. Armands & darned if they didn't have an art fair going on! We managed thru the traffic & headed over to the winery. The wines are sooooo good. I swear dh would have tried every single one if I would have let him. The people at the winery are very friendly. They have the same wines that Amy bought in Key West. I'd had several of these wines at Epcot's Wine Festival & absolutely loved them. These wineries are independently owned. The website for the one at St Armands is starmandswinery.com

We bought Coco Polada, Mango Madness, Key Limen, & Hot Sun. Hot Sun has jalapeno peppers in it & I can't wait to crack that bottle open. We must've tried about 10 different wines. Another one of my favorites was the Tangerine Champagne. They also sell some sort of a kit to make wine freezes with - we didn't get it but next time we go back I'm sampling a wine freeze. We also walked around the Arts fair and I bought some jasmine soap. I'm actually using it. Its in the shower & its wonderful!

For dinner we left the key, returned home & went out for a wonderful meal. I asked the waitress for a drink recommendation & it was a martini with a watermelon popsicle - just what i needed to cool down with. It was some kind of vanilla martini - sweet, low alcohol & delicious!

Dh and I split a dinner salad, spicy shrimp along with bacon wrapped scallops. Halfway thru I ordered an Appletini. I'd never had one before and the waitress promised it was good. It was a great way to finish the meal. Oh, & I forgot - they brought out bread with oil & seasonings - Everything was so good!

Ds did not want a birthdy party. We discussed different options but he wanted everything lowkey. His friends picked him up around noon to go to the beach, out for lunch & over to his friends. They returned at 8pm. We ordered several different pizzas & wings which were delivered after 9pm. For his birthday cake I bought one of those cheesecake samplers. Its a big cake with all different types of cheesecake. Thank God, he loves cheesecake & not carrot cake. I had one piece on his birthday.

For his present I had to give him a hard time. Since he smuggled the cat in here last year I bought a card that says - A birthday wish from the cat when you open the car you see a kitty litter box. I signed it "AND from the rest of us - with our signatures. I took several cups of kitty litter and put it in the decorated birthday bag, along with 2 SNickers bars (wrapped) and his card with money. He loved it!

Sunday was breakfast and mimos in bed - watermelon, blueberiries & peaches along with oatmeal & cooked apples, raisins. Dh & I lazily ate in bed, watched Sunday Morning on CBS & channel hopped to Breakfast with the Arts on A&E. I love those shows! AFterwards we caught the end of The Actors Studio w/David Chappel. By then we were really lazy.

In the afternoon the doorbell rang. When a doorbell rings at our house - its pandemonium - between the dog barking & the cat trying to sneak out. Dh stepped outside and a lady said she was locked out of her car. Dh went out and handed her his cell phone. She made a call, thanked him & left. She said her car was several blocks away - so we couldn't figure out why she was at our house. Dh & I watched her go to a neighbor's house 2 houses down. After that he got in his car to see where she'd go next. Next, she went to another neighbors. Dh ran into her at the corner and asked where her car was so he could help her - she then said it was at another location. A neighbor came over to our house to ask what happened & said they'd given her $10. WE told them we felt it was a scam. He found her & offered to take her to her car like dh had & she refused - at that point he asked for his money back. When she returned it he said her wallet was FULL! We warned the business at the corner and several neighbors. After that dh went looking for her and she was gone. We were mainly worried about the older neighbors who live in here.

Yesterday I had 1/2 of ds Snicker bar - forget the cake I want my candy! Dh about had a fit and confiscated the other half. We also opened up the CocoPolada wine which I had with three slices of pizza & 3 chicken tenders.

Today I did 20 minutes of cardio inside.

#1 1 banana, lemon water, cappachino
#2 curry chix salad on lettuce

I spoke with my mom on the phone 4 times today. She wants to drive to the grocery store. I told her to stay at home - there are tornado warnings. She agreed that she had the tv on to keep watching the weather & if a tornado hit she'd run into the closet. I asked her WHY she was wanting to go to the store then! She has food at home - all kinds of frozen pork chops etc. Just what we need a 90 year old lady driving during a tropical storm! She gets something in her head and cannot be dissuaded!

Anna, chili and milk Duds are gone! Here's to a better week!

AMy, love that wine! I'm so glad you mentioned it. I almost ordered it from the Key WEst website but decided I had to see the St Armands winery. Dh had the best time!

Sounds like you guys had a great time at the winery! I'm glad you got to get some wine, now you are spoiled!!! :snooty:

That's a little freaky about the lady wandering around the neighborhood. I would have called the police. You never know what she was up to!

Are you in the path of the latest storm?

Surf was up! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: but not really. The waves were really choppy. They had the "no swimming' flag up. I went into the water quickly, caught a few waves and then left. There was a lifeguard in a pickup telling people to get out of the water. When he started coming to our end of the beach we left. They were choppy but not strong.

Yesterday -
#3 curry chix and salad on flatbread
#4 snickers bar
#5 lf cheese and 3 crackers

Today I did 20 minutes of cardio

#1 so far just lemon water - I'm afraid to eat.

Amy, the storm has missed us! We're fortunate but I worry about the people that are in its path.

We've had so much fun with wine trying and buying this weekend. Dh and I both loves wines but the sweet tasting kind. His nephews both loves wines but their wine always tastes like crap. The more expensive - the worse it tastes!

ooooh, the curry chix is back -- that sounds really good!

Glad the storm missed you and you had a wonderful time at the winery. Those wines sound great! We like sweet wines too, especially in the summer. Our houseguests this weekend are real wine experts. For his 40th, 5 couples went to Napa for a long weekend. It was interesting to watch them, taste, drink and buy! We mostly tasted/drank, very minimal buying! Gotta say, I can't taste the difference between the $20 red and the $200 red! I guess my palate is not that refined! :rotfl2:

Sounds like a fun time at the beach! I'm glad the storm was not as bad as they were predicting.

Your eating looks a lot better (minus the Snickers!). What the heck are we doing to ourselves, we need to get re-focused!

I am glad you are enjoying your wines. You will have to go down there a couple times a year and stock up!

Yesterday I had lemon water all day until 5:30pm. For dinner I took half a chicken breast and made curry chicken salad minus the celery. I ate that with cranberry juice and a mocha bar. I was full & didn't seem to get the bad candy cravings I've been having lately. Later during the basketball playoffs I was getting snacky watching the game so I had some cranberry juice. I almost wanted to get out the cheese and crackers but I resisted. I got disgusted with the basketball game and went to bed. This morning I found out that

The Heat Won!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Phew! That was a close one. I like competition but not that much.

20 minutes of free weights.

My weight is at 150.0 today!!!

So far today I've just had lemon water. I'm determined to break these candy cravings.

Anna, its funny you'd mention Napa. A friend of mine went out there to tour wine country. She said she hated the expensive wines and only liked the cheaper wines. The people she went with gave her a hard time but I think I'm the same way! A friend of mine had me over to try a merlot wine and when she went to answer the phone I dumped it down the sink.

Amy, we were very fortunate with the storm. Even where it hit wasn't that bad from what I've heard. Although, I was surprised that people did lose electricity here. Fortunately, we kept ours but the news said the electric company was busy.

With the snowbirds gone it only took us 15 minutes to get out to the Winery so I may be hitting that place more often now that I know its there.

Yay, you are almost back into the 140's!!!! :cool1: :cheer2:  The damage you did was short-lived.

I really hate merlot. Your friend probably thought you chugged the whole glass! :rotfl:

I hope your day was candy-free yesterday! :wizard:

I made it to 149.8  I'm back in the 140s club! Its amazing when you restrict your calories how the weight just flies off! Of course, I need to be careful NOT to lower my metabolism.

7am-3pm - 3 glasses of lemon water alternating with 4 glasses of water

Yesterday I had a 1/2 chix breast which I made into curry chix salad at 3:30pm

water and one glass of oj until 7pm

At 7pm I had an apple, 3 chipped ham slices & 1 lf LC cheese wedge w/oj

9pm - oj

Today - 20 minutes of yoga

I got so thirsty today when we ran out of water. Dh took the water jugs to fill after his appointment today. By 9:30am I was out of my water and had to drink some flavored waters - Yeck!!! Give me plain water and let me lemonize it myself. For some reason that sweet flavored water doesn't cure my thirst. I keep hearing about Smart Water - and it doesn't make any sense. Why add vitamins to water when I take a multi anyway?

Had a glass of regular water - ran out - several sips of flavored water & then a couple sips of cranberry juice. As soon as dh got home I grabbed the water and the ice. I was so happy to have my water back!

Anna, thank you. I have to hang onto it THIS TIME!!!! :Pinkbounc

Amy, I'm glad I'm not the only merlot hater. I've thrown away more than one glass at parties. However, I love white merlot. Yes I can add another candy free day to my calendar! WHen mealtime comes I'm just happy to be eating food!
