I have bitten the bullet and booked 5 nights of our upcoming trip during free dining in order to free up points for a winter stay...we've never stayed outside of OKW and SSR, so I'm wondering...
If I look at the 9 nights starting MLK day, what are my chances at 7 months ...in order of what I think is my preference (having never stayed at them)

Boardwalk
Beach Club
Wilderness Lodge
Animal Kingdom

DH wants me to call once (not day by day) when our 7 month window opens up so he can just know it's done. If we can't do January, we could probably do February, but that means unexcused absences for the kids because I'll go over my 5 allowed vacation days (kids have 2 days off MLK week). But we're talking 1st and 2nd grades, with kids that are currently above level, so i'm willing to consider it for a good cause (which, obviously this is ;) )

I've cancelled a 2-bed and will be booking a studio so I have points to play with!!!!

And I know there's 800,000 of threads just like these....but I want to plan and need some help feeding my addiction here :rolleyes1 Pure speculation based on nothing more than personal views are highly encouraged!

To be honest, I don't know anymore. A couple of years ago we could find availability when and where we wanted. Last month, every room at WDW was sold out, DVC, CRO, every room. I just checked on DVC availability next month for a friends last minute vacation. 2 one-bedrooms left at SSR, that's all. When booking at 7 months, one guess is as good as another.

I think you'll have a good chance at 7 months for January. If you can be flexible with where you are going to stay/size accommodation I think there's a chance. If it were me.....;) I'd give it a heck of a try. I've got a 3 night weekend in October booked in a studio for BWV with a friend, and 5 nights in a two bedroom at BW in Jan with my family. We just got back and I can't believe I have to wait til October! I'm already freakin out, and out of points for now. I want to go back in June and can't get there with no points!

I told my DH (who loves it too) that I don't LOVE WDW - I have a serious problem here:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I want to move to South Carolina just so it's easier to get to WDW.....:scared1:
Help:scared1:

DeeCee, I can't help. But I can sympathize :goodvibes That was our problem....out of points and freaking out at the thought of not going again for a whole year :scared1: We debated an add-on....decided now was not the time (I'm still reeling from my latest airfare purchase!), and figured we'd book on cash like "normal" people do. But then I realized if I was going to pay cash, I might as well take advantage of free dining! So it's opened up an entirely new area of planning for me :woohoo:

Seriously, we'd love to try Boardwalk. But sometimes on these boards it appears that would be about as easy as winning the lotto.
