Jan prices release?

We are looking to go Jan of 09.

I'm confused about 09 prices and reservations....the system says only accepting bookings through Dec 31st. Does that mean nothing can be booked Jan and beyond...Or can you book it and then get the price later when they release them?

You can book a room only ressie now for Jan 2009 by calling disney direct, or thru your travel agent. You have to put a deposit down equal to one night's stay - I believe they use the 2008 peak rates to base the deposit. Then when the package deals are released in July/aug time frame, you can contact disney to convert to a package deal.

We are going Jan 2009 also but it is a slow time so do not feel we need to make res yet. Need to get airline tickets first to be 100% sure of dates. Am I wrong or missing something here?

All depends on how you like to plan things. Some people like to have the room reserved, that way they know they have it. Then they get the flights. You want to do it the other way, that is fine too. But the option is there, to make a room only reservation if you like to do that as soon as possible.

Like the previous poster mentioned...it all depends. I have already booked my airfare and I am holding a room through Disney directly. It is based on this years rates (peak rates) and for the room only. I like to know that my room is guaranteed. Then, when the 2009 package rates come out, I usually end up booking it through AAA. But, I like to know I do have that room secure. It usually ends up fine, but you never know.
