I am also looking for a fish extender group to join for this cruise. Does anyone have any details?

I'm excited to find another group of cruisers. I am taking my special needs son, young adult, for our second DCL. We did a 4 nt on the Dream first of Nov. He did so well and I was craving a longer more relaxed pace cruise, so here we are booking and checking in late. Timmy is too old for the teen group but is very matched in size and interest to the teens, I will be going to many open houses so he can grasp a bit of their fun. I also hope to find out if I can hire a nanny /companion to spend a little time with him so I could grasp a break myself. He is sweetheart and loves everything Disney. :love:We have annual passes to Disneyland and go almost once a week. I call it the healing power of Disney. This is becoming a long post, but a few more questions for the veterans=}. Love to hear suggestions for excursions for our ports and also if anyone is booked in a cabana for CC and would like to recoup some $, I would love to "share" for a couple of hours. My Timmy does not like the beach or sand and would love to be a couch potato with his iPad. I keep checking for cancellations to book one, no luck so far. Hope to meet some or all of you. Traveling just with Tim this time- and he is pretty quiet..lol
I haven't figured out the signature part here- I am Darlene- Timmy mom and grandma to one little future Mouseketeer Lily

Some of the latecomers might want to just organize a FE for themselves and others interested (there have been several asking in the last few posts).

Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine still managing meet and FE discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM. If no one else comes forward to organize a FE for this cruise, perhaps someone can start that right in this thread.

Enjoy!

Greetings fellow cruisers,

I think that I'll go ahead and try to make this happen. This is my first time trying to set up a Fish Extender Group, and it's quite late in the game, so I'm gonna try and keep it real simple.

Here's the info that I want to get from all participants:

Stateroom Number
Last Name
Name and ages for participating guests
Additional comments as needed

Please send me your info via private message.

The list will be closed on **SATURDAY JANUARY 17th**

This will give those who are traveling, the week before the cruise, time to get things in order.

Happy Cruising,

Kevin

Thanks for the reply, Shanti! Once you have your stateroom numbers, please let me know which kids will be in which room. We want to make sure the right gifts get to the right kids! It is also okay to have them all in one fish extender. Many people choose to put each child's name on their own pocket of the extender so they each have their own spot to check. If you will be doing it this way, we will need the name to go along with the age of each child. Also, this is not just for kids! The adults in your party are also welcome to participate. (My wife and I are the only ones traveling and we love the FE!) As far as ages for the adults, it is really only important to know if they are 21 or older in case alcohol is involved in the gift.

Right now, we are the only two participating in the fish extender. I'm hoping more will join in. We certainly had a lot of interest earlier on! It's not too late!

Hello, we are interested in joining a Fish Extender Group. We are a family of four. We have a 2 year old girl named Sonie & 3 year old girl, Margaret. Both adults are way over 21:)

We are in stateroom 9162. This is our very first Disney Cruise, if someone can please fill us in on the next steps for the Fish Extenders that would be great⚓

Hello we will be on the cruise - this is our third one!! any help with the fish extenders would be appreciated

Hi Davison and DCL fan! Welcome to the FE group for our cruise! January 17th is the last day for people to join to participate in the FE. At that time, I will post the final list of everyone's staterooms/names/ages so that everyone can get their treats together! Right now, we have 5 staterooms participating. I will post the list of what we have so far soon.

DCL fan, if you could provide me with your stateroom number, the names and ages of the kids in your stateroom, and the number of adults participating (and whether or not they are at least 21) you will be all set to go!

This link was posted earlier in this thread and includes some good information if you have questions about fish extenders http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-cruise-line/fish-extender-basics.htm

What exactly is a fish extender?
Named for the decor from which they hang, fish extenders are usually handmade pocket organizers (similar to a shoe caddy or mail organizer) customized with names, favorite Disney characters, etc. These pocket organizers are hung from a decorative fish, starfish or seahorse ornament that is attached to the wall outside of the cabins on each of Disney’s four ships. My family’s fish extender looks like this.

What happens next?
Once numbers are finalized, each member of the group prepares a gift for the other participating cabins. You can opt to provide a single family gift for the participating cabins, or give individual gifts to each person in the cabin. There are no rules regarding gifts (no minimum or maximum dollar value). Often times, the gifts are handmade, but not always. Once the cruise has commenced, participants deliver their gifts to the other participating staterooms, leaving them as a surprise in the fish extender pockets. One of the most fun aspects of taking part in a fish extender group is checking in throughout the day to see what little goodies are waiting.

Here are some examples of Fish Extender gifts.

HI not sure if I posted the info in the right place about us so please let me know if u need anything more, thanks!

DCL,

I set you a Private Message about your fish extender information.

As for Magnets, there are a lot of options out there:

1. You can purchase Magnet Paper from a craft store/office supply store, and print pictures, words, photos. This paper can go into any home printer.

2. You can purchase self adhesive magnets from most craft stores, and attach them to stickers, buttons, scrapbook items, etc.

3. Your can add Mickey Ears to your Stateroom Number. Google search "Stateroom Number Mickey Ears" and print the image on magnet paper.

Hopefully this info helps :o)
