Hi, my name is Penny. My family was on the 1/8/05 Eastern cruise, and Jira was our asst. server. I just loved his smile. He was so good with our kids. We've got some greeat pics and video. Sylvester was our server but started his 2 month vacation the day you boarded. So I guess Jira was then paired with Ronald. Glad to hear you enjoyed your service as much as we did.

How do you get chosen as "family of the week".....interesting

I think it was random. We got back to the cabin on the 2nd day of our cruise and there was a letter on our bed with our name and cabin number on it. It told us that we were chosen as family of the week by room services and that we could order from any restaruant menu. THey also brought snacks to our room each day without us ordering it. It was very nice.

Thanks for the great trip report. We recently returned from the 11/27 Eastern and loved it! Most everything exceeded our expectations and the people we met from our thread made our trip even more special.

The only service that we had that wasn't great was from our dinner servers. Did your servers interact with you and your kids? That was missing from our meals and they were pushing the "excellent" speech down our throat at every meal. Mentioning that it was important to their job and their review that they receive an "excellent". It was so bad that I wanted to miss meals! Just curious about your experience.

Our servers, Ronald and Jira, were great with us and the kids. They interacted quite a bit with our kids....cut their food, did magic tricks for them, poured ketchup in the shape of Mickey or Goofy on their plates, took the two 4 year old girls out to the dance floor and danced with them. THey always had fruit on the table for the kids before we arrived.....they even noticed that our 23 month old son only ate the grapes and oranges from his fruit bowl and started bringing him a bowl of just cut and peeled oranges and grapes!!! We were very pleased with them.

Our server told us about the comment cards twice... the last night and the night before. He told us they were very important and explained how they worked. We gave them an excellent review!

We are planning to depart January 2006. Were the pools warm enought for young children to swim in? How about the beaches at Castaway Cay and Nassau?

The pools on the ship were fine to swim. The water at castaway cay was a bit chilly for my taste, but there were plenty of people who were swimming....including my 4yo DD. We thought the weather was really nice....not too hot and not too cold. We rebooked to go in January again
