Jan 2007 codes?

i just made a reservation for jan 12-17 and put a courtesy hold on it. I hope a code comes out soon

I remember a disscusion quite awhile back that might give some newer members something to think about:
Many people seem to be making reservations, to secure a room, with the plan to switch them when a code comes out. Disney uses (discount)codes to fill unreserved rooms, usually during less than peak periods. The more people who reserve rooms, the less chance that a code will be offered.
Seeing how it's usually during less busy times of the year that they are offered, I don't see the need for making room reservations very far in advance. Unless you need a very specific room type, like a suite or concierge at a deluxe, with a little flexibility you can almost surely find something at your choice of resort.
My wife and I are planning a long weekend parents-getaway for early in February and have made our air and rental car reeservations but are waiting for our room, hoping that a Passholder's Discount might be offered. If there is none, we'll probabally stay at POFQ or CBR, if there is one then maybe AKL or Y/BC. Either way, I'm confident that we'll find something. Being a little flexible is a price we're willing to pay for the greater likelyhood of a discount. Worst case, there's always hotelkingdom-dotcom.

Am I the only one starting to wonder what the heck is up with January discounts?

I checked Mousesavers, and the AP rates for December came out 8/16/06. The ones for November came out 7/12, and the ones for October came out 6/8. So basically, they were coming out on a monthly basis, but now it has been over two months!

Last year they had the Best Rate Program and that is why they were released so early. I personally loved this program, but most people complained about it and here we sit. Oh well. Here's to hoping they come out soon.

keep in mind the current code (for Nov/Dec) expires tomorrow, so it is usually after that. The OP is right the difference last year was the AP BRP program which has been eliminated

Hey folks i dont have a trip planned (YET) i just got back but i tried to log into the AP site and it is DOWN. So maybe the AP rates are coming??? Im thinking about wheedleing another short Jan trip out of DH to get more use for my AP.

We have the wilderness booked for Jan 3-8 at a rack rate but I am really hoping for an ap rate real soon!

I was able to log on to the passholder site and nothing new there. I though that they updated the website after they released the codes anyway.

Thinking of planning an end of January trip (how bad is MLK weekend? bad enough to wait until the following week?).

Forgive this newbie question, but will the code trump the AAA discount? Would there be any advantage in booking with AAA if you are using a code? I'm assuming you can't piggyback the AAA discount and the code, right?

For Jan, AAA and the codes are usually about the same. For Jan 2006, we got about 20% off the rack rate AND Disney offered the free hopper/water park option with the code (same as current Canadian deal), so it was a little better than AAA. And you're right - you can't combine discounts.

just checked, no codes,

and i couldnt take the "preferred room" charge off my reservation,
seems there are no more non preferred rooms left?
can they do that?
sheesh, they are going to force me to stay in a room near
the pool when i dont want to? its january after all.

i also checked to see if i can still cancel.

no codes, maybe no trip, and wait till next year.

So same deal as Canada offer.
