Hey all,

WDW vet here- I've only been to DL 1 time. We are planning a week in So Cal to visit family and are thinking of hitting DL Wed 1/2- Fri 1/4. Anyone visit this time of year? How are crowds? Weather? Dates are firm as we want to avoid Xmas-NY week but have to return home on 1/5 for kiddos to get back to school. My sis frequents the parks so she can help with FP planning, shortcuts, etc.

Thx for any advice!

Jenn

I think it will be SUPER crowded. Most school will not be back in session until Jan 7th. Like you, many people will be taking trips after New Years. We are going skiing  Add in the locals and it should be crazy BUT, I would still do it. Just use your sister to plan and get there really early. The decorations should be beautiful! Have fun!!!

It will be pretty packed. We are there every year. But going in knowing it will be busy and you will be fine.

I was there last year for NYE and a few days after. It was VERY crowded, everyone is still on winter break just like you will be. Have a solid touring plan and reasonable expectations and you will have a good time. The parks are very beautiful during the holiday season! :santa:

Expect close to turnstile closure crowds. Remember, there are a LOT of people who come in for the Rose Bowl, who will stay after to go to theme parks in the area. (We will be there too.) Just make a plan, and be prepared for crowds. It will still be fun!

To say that it will be busy is an understatement. With so many kids on winter break as well as adults on vacation, it can get pretty crazy. It's quite doable if you plan very well and don't have too many expectations. Get in line before the park opens and hit your "must-do" rides first. My husband and I have gone during this time for the last couple of years because of strict vacation dates, otherwise we would have gone a couple weeks later. The Christmas decorations are magical that time of year. Like previous posters have said, create a good plan and just be as flexible as possible. Good luck! :goodvibes:

Arch owl said it best. Just know what you're getting into and have a plan. We were there during this time a few years ago and if you plan it right and get your fast passes you can still see everything you want.

We have annual passes. As others have said, it will be very crowded, so plan ahead.
