Welcome to Nassau Bahamas!
I woke up to the sound of our neighbors flushing the toilet! I'm glad they did because I got to watch us pull into port. We docked right next to the Imperial Majesty. That ship was SO small next to the Wonder. We could look right down onto their swimming area with their little tiny square pool. They also had to use metal stairs on wheels to disembark. It really made us appreciate all of the little luxuries on the Wonder. DH ran on deck 4 and I rode the bicycle on deck 9 at the Vista Spa. After I exercised I asked where the showers were and a CM pointed me towards a door. I went in and took a shower there. I was all alone. (More on this tomorrow...turns out it was the MENS shower/locker room)
The showers in the mens locker room are the great big shower head (the size of a dinner plate) and feels like rain coming down. Since no one came in I showered quickly and quietly and exited the locker room and headed back to my stateroom unaware of what I'd just done.
We debarked and went to a tent to do some shopping. We mailed some postcards back home too. My DD 13 got a Louis Vatton purse and matching wallet after great negotiations with the seller. We had agreed on $20.00 for the purse and when she handed the purse to my DD she said $22.00. My daughter looked at me and I said $21.00 and handed her the money. She gave us the nastiest look you've ever seen. I told her we had agreed on $20.00 and this was my little girls OWN money. She continued to give me the evil eye. My kids were shocked and we walked away and got the matching wallet elsewhere. I also tried to buy a straw hat but the selling lady wouldn't come down from $18.00 so I walked away. I couldn't believe that she would let a sale get away. I remind you all ....it was a straw hat. Ridiculous. My DH and DS bought necklaces. DD -8 bought an ankelet, bracelet and small jewelry box. I bought 2 straw hats for $15.00 and 14.00 each and a bottle of Vodka.
We came back to the ship around noon to have lunch but the sun was shining so we put on our suits and hit the Mickey Pool. We kept running into some film crew who was taping all aspects of the ship. Hopefully we won't be on the video for whatever they were doing but they really were getting annoying to me. I also saw them at Pirate Night. The kids thought the water was too cold so they ate at Pluto's Bar and we layed out in the sun. A couple sitting next to us was from Jacksonville, Illinois which is a small town close to where I grew up in Pawnee, Illinois. Small world.
Next we got ready for our Bridge Tour which is what my DS picked out to do special for his birthday. When I made reservations at the excursion deck I mentioned it was my son's 10th birthday and this was the only thing he wanted to do. Well...someone spread a little pixie dust around and after the tour they asked us to stay behind. Noah got a special tour from one of the captain's assistants and it was the highlight of the trip for my son.
After bridge tour I made DD - 8 try the Kids Club. She was going to have to go their tomorrow when DH, me, DD 13, and DS 10 would be going on a walking/kayaking tour at Castaway Cay. Birthday boy wanted to do this excursion and it was for only 10 and older. I told DD8 that I'd only make her stay for 30 minutes and if she complained I would raise it to an hour and if she complained again 1.5 hours. Well, we dropped her off and came back to check on her about 40 minutes later and of course she was having a blast making jewelry with some new friends. I told her I wanted to check out our pictures at Shutters and did she want to come with me or stay. She wanted to stay. My kids are all shy and will have fun if they are forced to try something. It sounds like I'm a mean mom but I knew she'd love it if she gave it a try.
I picked her up to get ready to eat dinner tonight at Tritons again for Pirate Night. We all wore our matching blue hawaiian outfits with little Mickey and Minnies on them. We had a nice picture taken before dinner and then we all put our pirate "do-rags" on.
After dinner we went and changed our clothes and saw the Michael Harrison show. He did comedy, ventriliquism and magic. Jonathan, Chris and Heidi from our dinner table came too. The show was mediocre.
After show, we went to the Goofy pool (which now had a hard cover on it so you could dance on top of it!) for the Pirate Party. We watched parents dancing with their young children. My kids thought the dance part was kind of lame. As I mentioned before my kids are shy and they only person who would dance with me was Heidi (our little table mate friend). But then Captain Hook crashed the party and really started to play AC/DC, George Thoroughgood, etc. Captain Hook's music was more to my families liking
We didn't stay for the dessert but instead went back to our room and ordered room service. We order cheese pizza, taco salad, chili, all hands on deck platter, french fries and of course Mickey bars. Did I mention that we all gained 5 lbs on this cruise....but it was so fun!
Tomorrow is Castaway Cay. We went to bed around midnight.
