My ds (13) has recently devoured all books by James Rollins. Rollins writes action/adventure stories, such as the novel versions of Indiana Jones books. If you've read Rollins' books, are there any similar writers that you could recommend my ds might enjoy? Thanks!

I just started with James Rollins and I like his writing. I am in the middle of The Judas Strain

I would suggest trying Matthew Rielly. He is a total action adventure type writer. Think of Indiana Jones meets Jack Bauer with the actual pacing of 24. It is like a roller coaster rode.

I would start with 7 Deadly Wonders, then 6 Sacred Stones, and then his newest 5 Greatest Warriors. They all feature the same characters with a contining story but they can be read by themselves, I also suggest reading Utopia by Lincoln Child that is like WDW meets 24 another insane ride.

Hope that helps

I am not familiar with that author so I don't have any suggestions, sorry. I thought that a good place to search for a similar book would be goodreads.com. You can search by popular lists for that same genre as the James Rollins books.

Michael Crichton
Dan Brown
Clive Cussler
Chris Kuzneski

Rollins has such a unique blend of history, science, and religion...He's one of my favorites, as well. Cussler is fun...(and clean)...but after you read a bunch,he can get a bit repetitive. I always like to start with an author's first work and go in order. Cussler uses the same characters like Rollins.

Hope that helps!

I really like Steve Berry as well as James Rollins. It's not completely the same genre, but they have some things that are similar. Steve Berry is better, IMO, than Rollins.

I also suggest Matthew Riley...have read the 3 listed above and they are great...very action oriented...

also Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt series - very action and very similar genre to Rollins.

I have really really enjoyed reading the Dirk Pitt books...make sure you start at the beginning...there are about 10-15 of them. :thumbsup2

Similar feel with international espionage is Daniel Silva--my favorite

I also like Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child, good science references just like Rollins. Especially check out Utopia.

Here is another website that will give you authors of similar genre:

As far as Matthew Reilly, you can also read the Shane Scofield series. I loved the Jack West series. I also recommend all of the other authors above. Plus Andy McDermott, David Lynn Goleman, Jack Dubrul (who writes with Clive Cussler too) and Thomas Greanias.

David Lynn Goleman's Event Group series are another "keep you on the edge of your seat" read.

I second Amy in that I try to read the first in a series. The above webpage gives a list of the books for each author in the order they were written. It sucks when you are reading something and the book refers to something that happened in previous book that you haven't read. The Jack West series has to be read in order otherwise it won't make sense, same with the Shane Scofield series.
