I am not sure yet because i have a trip to Italy with ABD on September 30,2007.

MY FAMILY AND I HAVE BOOKED A QUICK TRIP TO THE AKL FROM 2/5/-2/8/ AND THE ONLY ROOMS THAT THEY HAD AVAILABLE WERE POOL VIEW. ANY IDEA WHERE THEY ARE, DISTANCE FROM LOBBY, FOOD COURT, BUS STOP. ANY INFO WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. ONLY VISITED AKL ONCE AND WENT TO BOMA, WE DID NOT WANDER AROUND RESORT SO ANY INFO IS HELPFUL. THANKS.:woohoo:

JUST GOT BACK FROM THE WL ON 12/2 AND ALREADY BOOKED AGAIN. WE ARE A FAMILY OF DISNEY MANIACS. DH ;) DW(ME) AND DD ALMOST 4:banana: WE ARE DOING THE HAPPY DANCE.

i have a question for all ya'll. i got home from a great trip last week at akl. i need the address to send a thank you to cleo at the conceirge desk. also i found something i liked at the gift shop and did not get it when i was there(did not buy it). how do i go about getting it? do i call the gift shop?

We are considering staying at a 1 bedroom suite in July and are trying to get as much info as possible before booking. So far, we have read that there are 5 of them. Can anyone recommend one to request? I know concierge is included, should we request one on that floor? This is a treat for my DD13 celerating her one year anniversary of her spine surgery, so I want it to be as special as possible for her. Thanks for any advice!!!

PolyAddict: we just got back from a stay in a one bedroom suite: 5285. This suite was non-smoking, had a savannah view and had a large rounded balcony. It really was a beutiful room. It was on the fifth floor, about half way down the left side of the horse shoe, as I call it, it the left corner of the little piece that juts out, if you look at a standard map of AKL. This over looked the Sunset savannah, and we saw a few animal, including giraffes and the long horned cattle. From what Don in IPO told me, there are, as you mentioned, five one bedroom suites: 4 of them are savannah view, and only one has a large, round balcony (5285, apparently) the rest have 2 standard balconies.

HTH!

Have a Great Day

Convenience is what makes AKL pool view rooms great. Our pool view room was 2nd floor on Zebra Trail. It was easy, and close to The Mara, Jiko, hot tubs, and oh yeah...the pool. It's also close to the area where you can use "night vision goggles". It's a great experience.

The pool view rooms on Giraffe Trail are closer to the bus stop than Zebra Trail. However, Zebra trail rooms have better public animal viewing areas. There was a porch like area with chairs to view the animals on Arusha Savannah down the hall from our Zebra Trail room.

Happy New Year AKL fans!!! I am only 7 days out from my 1st AKL visit!! Thanks for the update on the "plus" of a pool room. We have one reserved for next week (secretly hoping for an upgrade). From what I have seen from those with the pool view rooms, we won't be disappointed either way.

Hey disneymom-We just got back from a fabulous pre Christmas trip 12/14-12/21 at the AKL and we had a pool view room-room 4454 and it was lovely...the view, the location, everything...the distance from lobby was quite manageable...really close to food-out the room left to the elevator, down a floor and out the doors to the Mara (which is the fast service cafeteria style restaurant) and the pool which my children LOVED....) a little futher to Boma...We went out onto the Arusha rock to see animals...

Hey everyone else-Happy New Year...Working on trip report...attempting to figure out how to post my photos-although they are quite humble compared to Donalds, Cass's, Kimmars...pretty much everyone else who post photos here...:confused3 (I'm not even going to compete..going to just go the warm and fuzzy route...I have some cute photos of kids doing AKL activities...

to anyone planning a future trip who hasn't been to AKL before although its been stated many times, many ways...Absolutely plan to spend some time at the Lodge...exploring, swimming, doing the kids activities if you have kids, eat a breakfast at Boma in addition to lunch, talk to the CMs there...you really could have a vacation without even venturing out...it is that magnificent and well done...You get two vacations in one-the Lodge and the Parks...

We had a major meltdown on Day 3 of our trip-(I now jokingly call it my facist march through Epcot...) and things got much more relaxed and fun for us when I took my own above advice....:dance3:

...gotta get back to working on my trip report....:rolleyes1

P3--I'm looking forward to reading your trippie! Can you post the link here when it goes up? TIA!

...you will either have a 'lobby' room (door opens out to the lobby), or you will be in either Zebra or Giraffe Trail....any location you get will be one that isn't far from ANY of the major locations (pool, lobby, store restaurants, buses, etc.)

Hey everyone. OK. Here I am stuck yet again. Me and DH are going in Dec 2007. First time for xmas season. We are torn between AKL and CSR. Either way we are going from Dec 3 - 13th and spending everyday and about majority of the day at the parks. Now we can afford to do either one. We havent stayed at either one and we are looking forward to staying at either one but looking forward to staying at AKL more. However, money will be tight for us if we do AKL and we wont have much spending money to do whatever we want each month like movies, going out to eat, etc. since we have to put a certain amount to the side each month for our trip. If we do CSR, we will have about an extra $142 left over each month then if we were to stay at AKL. That extra $142 can go towards a bill or even just paying off the trip sooner. Bascially if we do AKL we will have around $180 left over each month. If we do CSR then we will have $314 left over each month, and this is after putting money to the side for the trip, food, gas, and bills. So heres my question. Is AKL worth having not very much left over each month or should we just shoot for CSR? As most of you know DH just came home from Iraq in Sept and he wasnt here for our 2nd anniversary so when we go down, it will be for the xmas season and to celebrate our anniversary for this year and next year if that makes any difference. Oh yeah just an added note, the view for both resorts will be standard.

...I've stayed at BOTH resorts, and, while CSR IS my fave of all the mods, I can honestly say that I am a 'Deluxe Snob':confused3 ...sorry, but I am totally 'hooked' on the deluxes after staying at WL....that being said, only you and your DH can truly decide what is right for you. The Christmas decorations are lovely at CSR, but so are the ones at AKL! Since your upcoming vaca is indeed one that will be truly special, AKL can provide that extra touch which you two deserve. If finances are a considerable factor, how about doing a split stay, starting at CSR, and then moving on down the road apiece to AKL?? (Just don't forget your bungee cord....:rotfl: !)

If you can only get the standard view at AKL, then just go to CSR. Everyone says that its not worth it at AKL if your not looking out at the savannah.

WOW, that's sounds great!!! Thanks so much for the info. How was concierge?

Concierge was really nice, especially the preplanning department. As many others have consistantly noted on these boards, Don and Juanita are great, and will help you with everything you need and then some. I always felt as though I were their only guest when we were planning this trip, even though I know there were many many more. AKL's IPO made the Grand Floridian's IPO look like a joke.

The lounge itself was nice. It was really neat to get to look out over the lobby. There was something out all day, including some really delicious juice. The CMs in the lounge were very friendly and helpful as well.

Hope your daughter is doing well. It certaintly sounds like your family could use a fabulous vacation.

Hi Disney8704 ~ have you considered a split stay? Maybe do a value or moderate for a week and then AKL for the last 3 nights?

It's the best of both worlds and won't be a big financial strain.
