Hey Kimmar!! I'm here...you're not the only one on here today, I just don't have a lot to say (YET!) because I've never been to AKL (YET!) So I'm more of a silent lurker for now, but still present and accounted for! Just don't want you to think you're posting for nobody today. ;)

Loved the latest installment of your trip report...can't wait for more!! :thumbsup2

.... :guilty: Whew, thank goodness!

First, what activities are there for children? My children are 5 and 7 so I want something the both can do....It looks like a lot of the activities are for children over 6.
Second, what is a standard view Kilimanjaro club room? Is this the same as concierge with a standard view?
Third, Is concierge worth the extra money?

Returned on 8/31/06 from AKL (5 nights). The hotel was beautful and it was all i thought it would be. The only problem i saw was the trash in the halls. The trash seemed like it was never picked up in a timely manner. We'd leave the room to go to the park, come back later in the afternoon and trash would still be outside of the room(s). We saw some mousekeepers walk right past the trash left outside the rooms for pickup as if it was someone elses job to pick it up. That was the only negative thing i encountered at AKL, otherwise it was awesome.

Oh yeah, i got the free upgrade from standard to Savannah View for free! We were on the Zebra trail and it was awesome. Saw the baby zebra and giraffe. :goodvibes We went to the Arusha trail to see if the view was better from that side, however we didn't notice any better view from that side even though there's alot of chat about the Arusha trail being the best.

...wowow, how wierd....I saw a couple of trays [from room service] going towards the lobby that had 'disappeared' when I returned!

Was anyone at AKL on Sunday (8/27) iaround the marketplace or out in front of the AKL around 9-10 pm and heard the man yelling something in Spanish and the cops had him handcuffed out in front of the Lodge?

I was just curious if anyone knew what that was about. By the way the AKL if very nice, it was our first stay there.

Thanks!! :wave2:

...that is a personal thing...it depends upon whther you have children[ or not] and their ages, how long you plan on staying at the resort during the day, etc.....

For US, it was WELL worth it, but I also HAD to book concierge in order to book the Sunrise Safari.....

We were there, but didn't see anything (must have just missed it). Everyone this past week appeared to speak spanish only. There was some type of convention from people from South America/Spain (Liberty Mutual) and everyone there spoke spanish it seemed.

We saw the Sheriffs Department car there, but we were uncertain as to what had happened. We were too tired to care. LOL

Hey all. DH and I might change our ressie from Aug to december 2007. Now 2 questions. Even though our anniversary is in August we are sorta gonna be celebrating it in December. Should I leave the anniversary note on our ressie if we do go in december? And 2nd we would be going from Dec 3 - 13th. I know that this is a pretty good time to go down because its a lil slow so what do you think my chances are getting a free upgrade? Im not really expecting one, but just wondering.

I think that week in December is usually pretty busy. I read somewhere they tape the Christmas parade that weekend. As far as anniversy I would celebrate it. Why not.

It is the week they record the parade but from what I've read on disneyworld.com and on the boards here that week is not busy. I bought the 18 disc dvd set from relivethemagic.com and it was recorded during the same time we might end up going and its not crowded at all.

Just an added note, we would actually be going the weekend AFTER the recording. The recording is usually the 1st weekend of the the month. We are arriving on the 3rd which happens to be a Monday.
