Hi there!
I am taking my mother and two children to stay at AKV Jambo, studio savannah room. I was trying to check in online and my options for room requests are - Near Lobby, Lower Floor or Near Elevator. I really would like to see animals from my balcony in the morning as I have my morning coffee. I have read that a lower floor is nice as you can sometimes just see the trees if you are higher. Is this true? I usually roll the dice on room selection but thought I would try to request something this time. Does anyone have any advice on which one of these would better suit my needs? I have never stayed there before( stayed in a standard studio at Kidani). Thank you!

Those online requests with check-in for Jambo were created for cash paying guests not DVC. The result is that they are poor requests and some are inapplicable. For example, "lower floor" would be a useless request at Jambo because the DVC rooms are on the top, fifth floor. "Near Lobby" virtually guarantees a medicore view. "Near Elevator" could also result in being near lobby with a mediocre view because each of the two wings has two elevators, one near the lobby and one about halfway down the hall.

In other words choose none of the ones you mention. If you are a DVC member or someone renting from a DVC member, you should be making your request through Member Services (if a renter then through the member who puts them in to Member Services) and ignoring all the online requests. A request that can be made through MS and could result in a good view is room overlooking Arusha savanna (the one in the middle of the building), along Zebra Trail, away from the lobby.

Thank you!!!! I am a DVC owner and usually never request anything as I think every room has its positives but plan on spending a bit of time in the mornings and really want a view. Thank you again for your response. I will call MS.

You will be on the fifth floor at JH unless you book the concierge villa. So don't bother with lower floor because you are as low as you can go.

you could make specific room request through fax or a site like touring plans. Also you can check out which room you want on fifth floor. I picked (5501?) so morning sunshine wouldn't shine in, ended up getting the nearby room, 5503 like 2 doors down.

DVC has asked members not to fax in requests and just enter them on their reservation. They tend to throw them away.
