Resort Thread Jambo! Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE

I had planned on not using the buses at all (we're staying at Jambo week of 12/14 ) because I had heard that Kidani/Jambo would be using the same buses (with Jambo being the second stop) and therefore they would always be crowded/we might have to wait like an hour for a bus, but that seems to not be the case?

It hasn’t for me. The only time it’s been “filled” is when leaving the park at closing. Otherwise there’s barely been people. However that’s just for AK and MK so far.

They only shared buses once in the all the mornings we were there, when the bus to AK oddly went to Kidani to get a couple people after picking us up at Jambo (which is the reverse of the normal stop order for AKL park buses).

When we left the park for an early afternoon break, an empty bus was awaiting us almost every time. I don't think we even had to wait for a second bus going home in the evening. Our longest wait was maybe 10 minutes tops leaving Springs one night.

With all the other unfortunate cuts that have been made, it was really heartening to see them keep bus service at such a high level, especially considering how empty Jambo is.

Does anyone who has stayed at Jambo recently know if the Jambo gym is open? I’ll be there starting on Christmas Day. I plan to work out in the mornings and would hate for my neighbors to hear me grunting amd groaning through Insanity. LOL

Stayed at Jambo in October and at least when I tried to go mid-week it was closed so I walked all the way to Kidani gym (which I was not a fan of). Nice walk, awkward gym with a lot of machines facing the windows and you stare at everyone leaving the pool who are staring back at you. Not sure if they open the Jambo one on weekends.

Do you know when the decorate the Lobby for christmas? is it before thanksgiving?
Yes, I arrived Nov 14 and the decorations had just gone up. Sorry they are sideways! 541338

Thank you! I don't mind the Kidani gym, was just hoping to be able to go straight downstairs. Guess I'll use the distance as a jog warm-up before staring a workout.

Does anyone remember how long they leave the decorations up? I'm afraid we're going to miss them (checking in 1/4) but I will keep my fingers crossed!

Also... are busses running from Jambo to Disney Springs?

You are probably on the edge of still having decorations up. Usually, all decorations are down before the marathon, which was supposed to be Jan 6-10, but that has been canceled so who knows? Yes, busses are running form the resorts to DS

We are renting DVC points for 3 nights at AKV/Jambo in a value studio in early January 2021. Will there be housekeeping provided at all during a 3 night stay? I see that the kitchens come with paper plates, etc.; if there's no housekeeping, should I bring our own plates, mugs, utensils, coffee, etc? Also towels and tp? We are flying Southwest so packing extra "stuff" isn't an issue- I just need to know what to bring!

Any rumors/speculation about when dining venues will open at Jambo? We are heading there this summer (DVC) and hoping things might be open by then. If not, that's ok. We have a GV and will have plenty of food.

You get four sets of paper plates, bowls, and utensils so in my opinion for a three night stay it wouldn’t be necessary to bring anything extra unless your group is 3/4 people.

....I'm kind of upset that nothing is open yet - we leave for BCV and YC in less than 2 weeks and I had wanted to make an ADR for Jiko - one of our FAVE places to dine.

It would be nice if they could open The Mara, at least, and maybe Victoria Falls. People ARE staying there, after all, and I guess it's getting kinda busy over at Sanaa.

...ITA! While I do like Sanaa, it's not a 'must do'....
