Quick question for you experts...

We want to do a zipline excursion in Jamaica, but my wife does not want one that in any way has a vertical drop. Do any of the Disney excursions meet those criteria?

Thanks!

This may be a stupid question, but don't you need a drop to go anywhere?

It's not a stupid question. Some of the excursions include a straight down drop on to a platform about 30 feet below the one you are launching from.

Gotcha. So she is ok with an incline (aka slight vertical drop) just not a straight down one?

When you said no vertical drop I was picturing something like the playground torture device where you'd pedal with your hands across a straight cable and thinking that would be no fun at all. Lol.

We did the Tranopy Adventure (bobsled and zip line at Mystic Mountain) last year and I don't recall anything going straight down. We enjoyed it.

My husband and son did the Adrenaline Zipline excursion at Good Hope Estate. None of them went straight down.
There was one last platform at the very end that was high up in the trees that you when you looked down it was pretty intense. But the actual experience was an incline and not a drop.

There is no way to avoid the vertical drop at Mystic Mountain, it is between either the 2nd and 3rd or 3rd and 4th zipline. I'm scared to death of heights and didn't think it was bad at all, it's maybe 20 feet tall at the most and is over before you can even start to freak out. I'm so happy I didn't let fear get in the way of a great excursion. We're actually doing it for a second time in about 3 weeks!!

We did the tranopy tour that included the ziplining at Mystic Mountain, with our 11 year old in March. There was no vertical drop. It was really fun and I felt safe letting my 11 year old participate. (I would not have been happy with a vertical drop either.)

Interesting! I wonder if something has changed there as we had the same experience as HookedOnDCL1. I even double checked with my DS in case I was forgetting but he agreed we did not do any vertical drops.

I appreciate everyone's responses, but I must admit Mystic Mountain is now confusing me! :-)

There is a drop at Mystic Mountain. I hate zip lines and am afraid of heights but went because the family wanted to. I had no issues with the drop. Just closed my eyes and held onto the rope. You are so strapped in and it is over so quickly.

Now, if only my son hadn't been scared on the bobsled and made me have to keep slowing down behind him. I wanted to go all out.

I just wanted to close out this discussion as we just concluded our cruise.

There is no longer a vertical drop at Mystic Mountain. Back in January, they replaced the vertical drop with stairs. You can see where the drop used to be, but it is very much no longer there. You just walk down.

Well...there ya go!
