18th July
The sun was shining and we were up and ready to go to Blizzard beach. My mum was as usual the last one in the van but we still managed to get there for about 9.15am. We found a spot perfect for everyone ( beds in the sun for the ladies and seats in the shade for the gents and kids) and left my mum to it as we all went to the family raft ride.
The ski lift already had a long line so we decided to go up the steps all 135 of them!! The kids were a bit apprehensive about the ride but as soon as we were on loved it it was only me that screamed all the way down ( the water WAS cold!!!!) . As soon as we were off they wanted to go back on so back up the stairs we went and the queue was getting longer but we only waited 10 minutes. Next was the taboggan ride which I dont mind as there is no big splash at the bottom. We did this ride a couple of times then I headed back to the call of my sunchair and the kids ,DH and granddad headed off to bigger and better splashes.
They were gone an hour or so before their rumbling tummies made them head back to demand food. I went off to get Hotdog and fries for everyone which was wolfed down and then they were off again.
It was a beautiful day and me and my mum donned our dark sunglasses and people watched for a while. It scares me how many kids you still see sunburnt!!!
By this time is was about 3pm and I was beginning to wonder if they would ever return just then we heard a rumble of thunder and then another. My mum and I started packing up and getting ready to go as there was some major black clouds rolling in. A flash of lightning and then the announcement came to please get out of the water. At this point the troops arrived back and then someone turned on the tap and we got soaked.
There was no place to shelter as the whole park had gone undercover so we just decided to head for the van. We were absolutely drenched and had to strip off in the car. We headed slowly off home and that was us for the night the rain was too heavy to go anywhere so we just had to sit in and have a few drinks and relax .
