I just got my doc's and noticed that they want men to wear a jacket at Triton's and Palo's. Palo's I can see, but is a jacket at triton's required? Or highly recommended? I was not planning on bringing one on this trip. I wear a suit everyday to work and would prefer to not have to on vacation. Is a nice pair of kaki's and a button down shirt O.K., or a golf shirt maybe?
I don't want ot be out of place.

Bill Bill Bill, We should wear a jacket When we went last time ther e was a few that did not have one on . They take pictures of the families before dinner and you can buy them later and everyone LOOKS SO nice dressed up, even DAD!!! My husband didnt want to wear one but he did and he looked great we all did and I love the family picture of us its setting out in the livingroom. And you might fill out of place. Marla:smooth: Counting the days!!!!

Just wear a sprortcoat over your khakis and a button-down shirt. I don't know how it will be on your Disney Wonder cruise, but on our Disney Magic cruise it was downright chilly in the restaurants, clubs, and theater -- and I was glad to have a summer sportcoat I could wear as an extra layer. I even wore the coat to clubs and shows.

The attire recommendations are only recommendations. You won't be turned away if you don't have a coat. But most people follow the recommendations (at least they did on the Magic.)

Ohhhhh Marla,
I knew I could count on you for a reply. But it wasn't the answer I wanted to hear. Oh well, I can make due!

I just came back from my 3rd Disney Cruise. At Tritons most of the men, including me wore nice pants and polo type shirts. My advise is look good and be comfortable. After all it is vacation:bounce:

Crusiedad, now we are talkin'.
So the majority of men do NOT wear a jacket? I woold be more comfortable without one, but uncomfortable if I feel out of place!
See Marla, thats what I wanted to hear!
Bill

I wore one on my first cruise and I was in the minority so off the jacket went. 2nd and third cruises I did not even bring one. If you go to Palos though you will need a jacket.

Even on the Magic -- which tends to be more formal -- I'd have to agree that about 1/2 of the men had on jackets and the others were just dressed neatly but more casually.
:)

This wont make you smile, but....;)

My DH will be following our hosts recommendations. In fact, he will be wearing a suit. I know thats not what you wanted to hear, but we feel its only common courtesy and proper etiquette to adhere to your hosts requests. To us, getting dressed up, and going first class is part of the cruise experience.
But, like others have said, not everyone feels that way, so Im sure you wont be out of place if you dont wear a jacket. Good luck deciding.

What if it was your best friends wedding or funeral? Would you show up in a polo shirt so you would be comfortable?
I always wear a jacket to Luminaires but I do change to somthing more comfortable before hitting Beat Street.

My DH wore a shirt and tie but no jacket. Some had suits, some polo shirts etc. I don't think anyone felt out of place. Enjoy!

:)

Ok Bill, Here's my two cents. I'm going to tell you what my Mom always tells me. Bring the jacket (sport coat) and make your decision to wear it or not when you get there. I'd rather pack something I didn't need than agonize over the whole thing. My DH will probably feel like you (make that definitely). So you'll pack lighter on the next cruise.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.:jester:

But I know that I am planning on taking a sport coat along. We're not doing Palo's this cruise, so a suit will not be needed. But I do like the idea of the semi-formal attire at Triton's and will abide by Mickey's wishes. Besides, we like the picture we had taken on our last cruise on our semi-formal night.

If any one decided not to wear a coat though, I won't be upset. Just don't show up in shorts or jeans and women, leave the tank tops and "skorts" in the room until later.

We have cruised twice before on DCL and both times my husband wore his dark blue blazer, shirt and tie with a pair of Dockers for dinner at Lumiere's/Trition's. I would say that 50% had a jacket on. Of the 50% that didn't about half of them wore a dress shirt and tie.

Only 10 days to go before cruise number 3.

on our Wonder cruise my dad wore a sport coat w/ button down and kakis -no tie- he was is the majority, however; that was two yrs. ago and from what ive been hearing on these boards things are getting more casual... that makes me sad... it was nice to get dressed up and sit in the 'nice' resturant w/ everyone eles dressed up.. at the time i guess everyone felt the same way! lol (i guess to me at the time & actually still feels like a kinda of make believe.. hehe in my little mind it was almost titanic-like (w/o the sinking!!)... if ya get what i mean.. everyone in their best... maybe thats why i want to go on the 7day, b/c it seems more formal?!?)
Neways, my point is.. lol.. that i think youll be fine w/o a sports coat! (but i wish it wasn't so! lol)

Blue Blazer, Khaki Dockers, and a decent button-down will let you feel comfortable everywhere, no matter how formal. Guaranteed!

Pack light and have fun!
