I ordered my neice a bathrobe, slippers, and matching pajamas at jcpenneys.com. When I ordered the items everything was in stock. I ordered the items in October. In November I received the pajamas and robe, but no slippers. I called customer service and they told me that the slippers had been backordered until Dec 5th, fine. They also advised me that I would definately have them before Christmas. Well today there was still no package at my door so I called customer service again. Now they tell me that they don't have the slippers and they don't know IF or WHEN they will be getting them in. Sorry. Sorry????!!!!! I had ordered this way in advance to make sure I had what I needed!!!! I specifically bought these items because they had everything matching and it was all in stock. Now what am I supposed to do? The stores have already been so picked over, I will never find anything to match. And I was so happy to be giving her this beautiful set. I am so mad and angry. I wish they would have just let me know as soon as they saw they weren't getting the slippers. They are purple, fuzzy slippers and I will not be able to find them elsewhere. They matched exactly!! I am very dissapointed. The manager I spoke to today did nothing to comfort me, just gave me his customer service spiel. I sent an e-mail to their customer service department as well. The manager I spoke with said they will look into it and send me a letter via snail mail in 3 days!!!!! O.K. they send the letter 3 days from now, it will take me at least 2 days to get it. That leaves hmmmm 5 shopping days until Christmas. I just cannot believe they can get away with this!!!
 
I know how you feel! It really sucks when you do something so far in advance just to avoid this situation. I'm sorry, hopefully they can help somehow!
 
Do you have a Kohls store near you. They stock almost every kind of slipper you can imagine. Maybe you can find something that matches.
 
Actually I have a Kohl's only a couple of minutes from my house, but they don't seem to have many kids slippers?? Maybe I am not looking in the right place. I was trying to find my 2 boys slippers there last week but they had nothing in their size. People just get crazy around here at Christmas time and it gets very hard to find what you need. People just seem to be bulk buying. DH is out shopping for my Christmas gifts tonight and he thought I was kidding when I told him there is not much left out there. Boy is he in for a surprise. Maybe he will understand why I shop so early now!!
 

I think everyone is in short supply of everything. I think the gas prices and a not so good economy made everyone think twice about how much they order/produce. Heck, we can't even get turkeys for our local Christmas Charity (we give them out with fixings for a Christmas meal). Even the turkey supplier in town had to go to another supplier to meet their normal demands. Not sure what we are going to do about that yet.
 
Something similar happened with my daughters Christmas outfit for Christmas pictures there years ago. I haven't shopped there since.
 
I'm not to happy with JC Penney's right now either. I won't be catalog shopping with them anytime soon.
 
Jamzots, I'm sorry that this happened to you. JC Penny's should really do something for you to make up for this situation.

I hope you find the slippers you are looking for. Does Sears have slippers, and if so is there a Sears near you?

I just bought pink fuzzy slippers at JC Penney - they had other colors - I think purple. Maybe you should go to the store.

I bought my niece purple fuzzy slippers from K-mart last year, they were Joe Boxer brand. I haven't looked, maybe they have them this year as well. I don't normally buy clothing at K-mart, but there slippers are nice. Wal-Mart has a lot of slippers in many different colors just this morning. Sorry you had such a problem, but I think you will be able to find something that will work out okay.
 
I've read similar circumstances with just about every catalog/online retailers this year. My wife is always very well-treated by JC Penney, whenever something like this occurs, which is less often than for many other retailers we buy from. Once, I had placed the order instead of my wife, and we had a little problem with it. I got a pretty standard reply from the first two people I spoke with. Finally, I had my wife call in, and within five minutes they had comp'ed the shipping. She's been a Penney's shopper for over 30 years, and I suppose she's got some massive gold star or something next to her name in their records. They clearly give better service to folks who purchase more from them!
