how do you feel about non mom bathing suits?! Ok, here's the deal. I need a new bathing suit. I am 27 years old, and have had 3 kids. I am very well aware that thanks to my kids :rolleyes1 I am not capable of wearing a regular bikini anymore. I have some extra skin that kind of wrinkles on my lower belly. Other than that I am in pretty good shape, I have nice abs, and a nice rear if I do say so myself. I want a bathing suit that will hide my extra skin, but still show my tummy and still look sexy. I have heard people rave about lands end, but when I checked out their site all I saw were bathing suits I REALLY didn't want to see myself in. So... Does ANYONE know where I can find some nice non mom bathing suits?

Hmm... how about a tankini, it's more like a tank top but made of swimsuit material. I think most of them come down to just above your belly button. Or you could try a boy short bottom which comes up a bit higher and might cover some of your tummy. :) I think you could also use a wrap for a bit of coverage too and just wear a regular bikini. I have tried Land's End before, I usually get my swimsuits at Victoria's Secret. I think they have a good selection, they even have one pieces.

I'm 35 and I just bought a string bikini from the gap. I decided that I didn't care what anyone thought , I liked the suit and I'm going for it!

I have a cute Lucky Brand bikini that goes just a bit higher in the front to cover the mom tummy, but still shows the belly button.

ETA: Heres the link... http://www.luckybrandjeans.com/search.aspx?l=00020081001200000000

Seriously...they cover the bottom wrinkle of my tummy, and the strings are distracting. I'm sure if you looked elsewhere, you could find a bikini bottom that went just a tiny bit higher in front.

I´d go with a tankini from VS. I am a mother of 4 and love their products (the ones I can fit in, that is).

I don't like the tankini, cuz my upper stomach is the part that looks good(and is the part I don't mind showing!), and it still leaves the lower stomach somewhat exposed. And they don't flatter my chest and they make me look wide across the middle..

I know they are really cute and trendy, but I totally don't think they flatter my figure at all!

I love the tankini's from Venus. Very non-mom!! :thumbsup2

Pics please, strictly for analysis only!

Try VS or Venus.
I like their Tankini's and I love their mix and match tops and bottoms.
They have the high waist bottoms that come up almost to your belly button, and you can pick out which top you like. You can also order different sized tops and bottoms.

My bikini is from Victoria's Secret. Granted I bought a string bikini, and decided I don't care what others think since some "larger women" wear them. But they honestly have a full range of bottoms to choose from and tops as well. You can get as much or as little coverage as you would want. I personally went there since my top size is hard to cover w/ regularly sized bikinis. I've had it about a year and love it!

Ugh time for me to buy a new swimsuit. I cannot cover up my midsection or I look horrid, but I do have to cover part of my lower tummy because of stretch marks from when I was overweight. I am thinking of ordering something from VS this time.

I got a catalog from JC Penney and they had some really cute suits this year. Maybe look online?

I agree with trying online. Maybe fashionbug.com ? I got a VERY nice non-mom swimsuit from there.

I have to wear a swim dress. Between my tummy and stretch marks and the scars on my hip, it's better to just keep everything hidden. What really chaps my bum is that swim dresses almost always come in hideous polka dots or black. I'm so fair skinned I'm almost clear, so black is NOT the color I need to be wearing in swim attire. :sad2:

I have the same problem you do. I'm thin and in decent shape, but having 4 kids wrecked havoc on my tummy! My abs are great until you get to that little pooch right below my belly button. I've had pretty good luck with the specialty swimsuit shops. You buy the tops and bottoms separately, and they usually have several different styles of the same suit. I'm hesitant to try VS or other catalog companies because you can't try them on, and they always look better on the models! I stay away from tankinis too. They just accentuate the problem areas of my belly. I also love the cute swim/board shorts. A lot of surf shops carry them, and they work great for hiding my lower belly, plus you can swim in them. I'm so self-conscious about my belly scars and extra skin that I dread wearing any kind of swimsuit. I'm hoping to have a mini-tummy tuck later this year to correct the problem.

Why did I click on this thread??? I'm not even going to read the replies!!! :faint: :scared: :scared1: At least not until I get my nerve up!

IF you are interested in a sporty swim suit, take a look at www.eqswimwear.com.

As I need lots of support up top, I have been having a difficult time finding an appropriate suit. The best luck I have had is with a triathlon swimsuit by Sugoi.

I still wear Mom jeans, so maybe I'm not the person to ask, but I love the swimsuits from LLBean. They have a good selection of suits in a lot of different styles. I've found that they don't wear out easily and they always maintain their shape. I like to get the nylon shorts that match the suits. They're lightweight but provide coverage for the lower tummy to upper thigh area. :)

You could always look for a one piece with a little less coverage than a "mom" one piece

There are ones like this:

Or (and this is not necessarily the best swimsuit I've seen like this) you could find a one piece with a mesh insert at the stomach. I have one like that, and it's my favorite swimsuit. I feel more like I'm wearing a bikini, with the security of a one piece for water parks, waves, etc

I've had a lot of luck looking for suits at TJ Maxx, or any discount store. They have a lot of designer brands for really good prices. Last year I got a $70 suit for $16.99.

I know what you mean about tankinis. I have tried them on a million times, but the bottoms always hit me in the worst place, and they never look flattering.
