............but can't seem to find how much an AP is for DVC members. I have heard there is a discount but wondering how much? These will be first time APs not renewals.

:thanks:

The DVC annual pass is $414.79, a reduced rate from the regular annual pass which is $520.79.

The actual discount is $100 of the regular price of an adult AP and $125 off the price of a Premium AP.

Kruuzin has given you the price of a DVC-discounted AP including the tax.

New DVC Discounted APs:
For ages 10+, $389 plus tax (6.5%).
For aged 3-9, $344 plus tax.

New DVC Discounted PAPs (Premium AP):
For ages 10+, $494 plus tax.
For ages 3-9, $436 plus tax.

I was just coming here to find that information.

I have questions about this too.

My DVC guide told me the AP is cheaper than the 7-day. I don't see that this is accurate. I see that I can get 4 adult and one child 7-day with Park Hopper for 1111.00. This is less expensive than the yearly pass with the DVC discount. Is the annual pass the best option for a once a year 7-day vacation?

No - prior to the MYW passes, an AP would come out ahead in cost on the 8th day you used it during a year. With MYW, there are a number of variables where you would need to really do the math - but for a once-per-year 7 day vacation MYW (without the no-expire feature) will be less costly than an AP. I would suggest pricing out purchasing a 10 day (with the no-expire) feature and then purchasing another the following year since the MYW (even with the no-expire) more heavily stacks the first few days and the later days (7,8,9,10) add just a few dollars to the cost. If you go every year for 7 days, get a 10 day pass and use 7 the first year - then the next year use the 3 left-over days and four from the 2nd year's pass - and then the next year use the 6 leaft over days ... etc - and you will come out far ahead.

Another consideration - as long as Disney continues the current 15 month renewal timeframe - would be to plan two 7 day trips within a 15 month period and then the AP would be more cost effective for the renewal years.

Just do the math - there are certainly situations where there is no simple answer (like if you want the TIW dining discount available to AP holders).

Enjoy! :)

As Rob says, do the math are there are many variables. Often you can get a week a year on one AP even without the 15 month renewal pattern. IMO, it's rarely worth it to get the non expiring option with todays price patterns on the MYW tickets. Realize that many people don't go to the parks every day and many often don't park hop. One of the cheaper options is to get the MYW for 5 days or so and look at other options for the off days. Realizing that many don't go on the day of arrival and/or departure, esp if they're having to pay a full day for it. This might weigh on your decision for an AP making it a better value for many. The other questions are whether you have access to other discounts like Military. Also, there are currently some specials going that may work out well for you, just look at your options at any of those that sell and discount and decide what's best for you.

We go to WDW once a year but will now plan those trips 51 weeks apart so we can get two trips out of one pass. I won't renew and then just buy the following year and do the same thing.

We typically go for 6 nights and do visit the parks each day--even if it is just to walk around, find something to eat, do a few rides, etc. We also like to park hop and never do the same park in the AM that we do in the PM.

So, for us, getting the AP's and just changing our trip by one week will save us some money. I just came back from a week with my kids and 2 of the 3 (who won't be going next year) got MYW. I paid $286.00 a piece for 8 day hoppers for each of them, but only $396.00 (before increase) a piece for me and my other DD who will be with us next year. So, for only $110.00 more, I have next year's trip covered.

So it looks to be about $100 off for first time APs, :thanks:

Can someone explain the 15 month thing? :confused3

And TIW. I know it's a discount card for WDW but is there a list somewhere with specific places?

Ideally we'd like to do our Oct 2010 trip and then another one before the APs expire, like August or September. :scared: Or maybe we'll do Dec 2010 and then October 2011? Hmm...... But I do have 10 whole points that have to be used by Nov 30,2010.

Until recently when an AP was renewed it expired one year from the last expiration date. At this time, renewals are getting an additional 3 months of use for a total of 15 months. That program could end at any time though and return to being a "true" Annual Pass.

TIW (Tables in Wonderland - formerly the Disney Dining Experience) offers a 20% discount, including alcoholic beverages, on almost all table service dining options at WDW resorts and parks. In addition the Flame Tree Barbeque, Tusker House, Pizzafari and Restaurantosaurus at AK and Tune-In Lounge at DHS are also included even though they are counter serve. Many of the resorts also accept the discount for their quick-serve dining (Boma, Artist's Palette) and lounges. A few in DD also accept the TIW - Raglan Road, Planet Hollywood and Cap'n Jacks.

So we could do Oct 2010 and Dec 2011 with the same pass? Think Disney would give some kind of notice? 15 months would be awesome and I wouldn't have to break my Disney-only-once-a-year promise! :cloud9:

Yes, assuming that the pass you are using in October 2010 is the renewal and October is the first month of the renewal, not the original. The original is still only good for 12 months. It's only when you renew that the 15 months kick in.

So only renewals are good for 15 months but initial AP is good for 12 months? :upsidedow
