I'm not very good at this. I have tried so many different things, but never seem to stick with anything.

Over the last couple of weeks I've managed to loose 6 lbs. by just eating a little less and walking almost every night for 30 minutes. I know I need to change my diet, but I just don't know how. It is SO HARD! :guilty:

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Congratulations on the 6lbs!!

You are not alone. :grouphug: There are many here that are trying to get healthier. Try reading some of the WISH Journals. They are so inspiring.
There are also a lot of different "programs" on the boards that people are trying. From Weight Watchers to The Biggest Loser. You are already doing amazing with your loss. Don't give up. Yeah you:cheer2: . You have lost 6lbs. Be proud.

Eating less, moving more, drinking more water, choosing fruit and vegetables over more sugary, fattening snacks, all things that most of us know, but still find hard to put into practise. You can do it! You are already starting to do it!

If you are like me and tend to eat out of boredom or emotion, it can be hard. Start a journal if you need to. Get some of that emotion out. It can be hard to type and eat at the same time.;) It is not boring. Go for a walk. Remember that we are all here for you. Each pound of the weigh(t) :thumbsup2

OMG I soooo feel your pain! I want to lose 50lbs by my next WDW trip which is currently slated for next October. At this point, I have just over a year to accomplish that, but I've never been able to stick with a weight loss plan in the past so I feel like I've already admitted defeat. :confused3

I'm a huge chocolate addict and what's worse, is that my desk as work is literally right next to the snack cart! I've been pretty good about not eating any of that junk, but it's just so hard!

Congratulations on the 6lbs you've lost so far! I'm rooting for you! Keep updating this thread with your progress! Maybe we can be cheerleaders for each other!

You've been given good advice here already. I might add that you may find it easier if you try not using that "D" word.

Look at everything you eat/do and consider healthy choices in your new lifestyle.

Find ways that will make it fun, and things that will give you success in many small ways.

You can do this!

:cheer2:

Awesome job with the walking! Keep at it! And when you feel ready, start to slowly increase your time, distance, and speed. Soon you will find that you don't want to eat the crappy stuff because you are feeling so much healthier.

For me, I work out first thing in the morning. This REALLY helps me to eat right the rest of the day...I don't want to ruin all that hard work by eating junk.

You CAN do this!

What has worked for me is Nutrisystem. I started on July 5th and have lost 48 pounds already. It also has made me think about what I'm eating and teaching me how to eat right.

Way to go on the 6lbs...that is a great start plus you are getting in your walking. It is hard but you are on your way now.

This is a great place to be for inspiration...one piece of thought I might would give is to think about things you want to change and do differently and when you begin to make those changes, do it slowly. Don't try to change too much at one time or it can be overwhelming.

Keep up the great work!!!:cheer2:

I'm still very weak, so I'll make this short....

2 weeks ago today I started having severe abdominal pain and vomiting - again. I've had this more times than I can count over the last 3 years. Sometimes I ended up in the emergency room, but they could never figure out what was wrong. I've even had a couple of hernia surgeries along the way, but the pain always comes back.

So this time I decided not to go. I layed down on my bed and took a cocktail of medications (vicodin, valium, zofran, etc.) that the doc. had given me for if it happened again. I waited for 3 hours with no relief before finally deciding to go back to the emergency room.

It was a night of unending pain that I can't even begin to explain. They did a CT scan and found a hernia with strangulated bowel that was about to rupture. They rushed me in for surgery. It was awful. I went 9 days without even a drop of water. It's been 14 days now. I'm finally back home from the hospital but still in a lot of pain. It is going to be a long slow recovery.

The WORST part is that the surgeon said that the obesity contributed to my condition. She said that if I don't loose weight, my chances of this happening again are about 20%. Even with weight loss and another surgery, the best I can do is 50%.

BUT - the GREAT news is..... So far, I've lost 22 pounds! :woohoo:

I want to loose 50 more, so wish me luck!!!!! :goodvibes

I am so sorry to hear about all that you have gone through in the past couple of weeks. I will be praying for a speedy recovery for you and that the pain will start easing away quickly. Glad to hear that you are back home now, I'm sure that will help speed up the recovery time as well being back in your own space.

Thanks, Tammy! I just noticed that you are from Burlington. I grew up there. I'm kind of old, so things have really changed a lot - but I LOVE the new shops over by the hospital. We end up driving down to shop there all the time. :goodvibes

I have lost 20 pounds in the last month just by drinking lots of water, chewing gum to curbtail any snacking and by not eating fast foods. I used to eat 2 fast food meals a day.

I knew the fast food was bad but I guess I never really knew that they were that packed with calories. I am still eating just a WHOLE lot better. I keep my calorie intake between 1000-1700 a day. My doctor said that this amount of calorie intake was absolutely fine as long as i was eating the correct foods .

I started at 5'8 weighing 199 lbs and I am not at 179 .

Good luck and stay strong :)

Get well soon!

I'm sorry that you went through all this. Heck of a way to lose that weight I'd say. Good WISHes for a speedy recovery and success in your eating healthy lifestyle.

Let us know how things are. Sending lots of PD for you :wizard:

P.S twoeeyy, congrats to you on those 20.
