Myself, my father 80yo, and my aunt & uncle, in thier late 70's, are going to be at BWV, in two studios in February. Dad, and my aunt & uncle are going to have ECV's. Last Feburary, Dad & I stayed in a studio and it was a tight fit with having one ECV parked in the room. Now, this February we'll have two ECV's in one of the studios. We're wondering if there's somewhere, like the luggage room or someplace where we can park the ECV's while we're in the rooms? They all can walk to the room from the lobby, even though the hallways are really long (That was for you, Rich!) but they just can't go all day walking. Anyone have a suggestion or know if BWV would be able to accomodate us?

Why don't you call the resort and find out?

I think I've stumped the experts!LOL I did call BW and the front desk said that Bell Services would be able keep them for us. That we'd still be in charge of them to get them and put them back, etc. It wouldn't surprise me at all to get a different answer once we get there, but at least I know that there's a chance we won't be climbing over ECV's in the studios. At BCV last year we had to park it in front of the door, and I thought about "what would happen if there was a fire." but there wasn't anything else we could do.

Anyway, you guys can put that little bit of info in your file in case you're needing an ECV before 2042 which is likely.

My DW and I have noticed that other members or (guest) have parked them out in the hallway, the doorways at the VWL are slightly recessed so there not in the way. I can't recall the doorways at the BWV

Hope this helps ?

I'd thought about that too, but was thinking there were probably fire code rules against that. I know here in KY, I used to manage an apartment complex and there were fire codes that stated the hallways/breezeways had to remain clear for easy escape in case of a fire. Thank you for your response though!

The best defense against this is to take the name of the CM who promised you this help. If someone else contradicts them later, you'll be in a stronger position to object if you can say, "On September XX, So-and-So specifically told me that..." This is particularly effective if you need to speak to a manager.

Since Bell services holds golf clubs for members so you don't have to keep them in your room, it would seem like they would provide the same service for ECC storage as well. I doubt you will have trouble with this.

When we were at the BWV in May the lady in the next room kept hers in the hallway in front of her door. It was never a problem for us or her to get in or out of the room.

That would certainly be handy if they were outside the room, that's if we could get the electric cord to them to charge the batteries. It just surprises me that they would allow it. People complain about food trays, I'm sure ECV's in the hallway doesn't look much better. And as I said, when I ran the appartment complex we couldn't allow people to keep bicycles and such in the hallway/breezeways due to fire codes. If there was a fire and no electricity, people would be falling over them trying to escape. We'll find out the scoop when we arrive, if nothing else well keep them at Bell Services.

Have you requested a handicap accessible room? Maybe it would be big enough for you to park the ECV in the bathroom. Not sure if there'd be enough space but it's worth a shot. Also, if it's really too far for them to walk to the room, you could keep one ECV in the room (leave the second with Guest Services) then "taxi" to the lobby and back in the morning (Have your aunt ride to the lobby while you walk with her, have her wait in the lobby as you drive the ECV back to pick up your uncle). Lots of walking for you but then you can justify double desserts:mickeybar
Good luck!

Off topic but...
Hey jennymouse-- is that your daughter in the Photo of the Week section of All Ears this week? The little girl in the bubble bath at the BWV??

Says photo submitted from Jenifer of Lexington, KY?

Just curious...

Yeap! That would be my GRANDdaughter, one of them, the other is pictured below. I just now read the newsletter and saw it. I can't wait to show it to her tomorrow when she comes over after school.

As eeyore would say, "Thanks for noticing."

No, I haven't requested a handicap room as they really don't need one and we'd feel guilty for taking one that someone else might need. I'll mention it to them though. My uncle is having hip replacement surgery in October, he's already had one side done and he's sure that he'll be recovered in time to go in Feb. But, he might have an easier time getting in the handicap shower. I'll definately ask my aunt and see what she thinks.

Hey, I'm all for any excuse for a double dessert!
