I've been itching to book since I got back a couple of weeks ago, decided to go for the SL, and its done!
2 adults, 2 nights, 15th-17th June
Decided against getting an AP in the end up, I'm not sure what I'll be doing after uni (need to find a job, eek) so can't say for sure that the AP would be worthwhile.
This might be of interest to anyone else considering the SL for next year - apparently between now and the end of April the outer buildings are being refurbed and Montana rooms are still in the main building. From May to October however the Montana rooms will be in the refurbed outer buildings, and standard rooms in the unrefurbed main building. So we are guaranteed to be in the main building with our standard room booking for June :cool1: In the choice between location and a refurbed room, location wins for me, especially as its cheaper!
I'm over the moon to have it all organised, and really looking forward to staying in SL. 6 months now to obsess about meals and worry that my boyfriend is going to hate it :lmao:
Off to make a ticker :goodvibes

Fantastic news!! I'm getting excited...and obsessive too for our trip in March!!

I'm glad that you said the swap doesn't happen till May as I've booked a Montana Room for March lol interesting to know though, I'll be doing the same as you with future trips - location wins over the refurbed rooms for me too!!

I've not even began planning where we're going to eat / drink and get merry yet!!

That's good I'm glad the refurb dates suit you too :goodvibes
On our trip a few weeks ago I was taking mental notes of everything my boyfriend might like, trouble is, all the restaurants we visited in 6 days were great so I don't know how to narrow it down for a 2 day trip :rotfl: I'll change my mind a million times, probably!
Also, when the CM on the phone asked if it was a special occasion I explained it was for my graduation from university, he was really nice asking what I'm studying, and said DLP would be a well earned treat after all that hard work :goodvibes he said he made a note on the booking that it was a celebration.
I don't want to get my hopes up for pixie dust, but it had never occurred to me they might do something nice for my graduation. Can't hurt to phone and remind them thats what its for a few days before we go....:thumbsup2
Wish I could fast forward through exams and job hunting and just be there now!

The Magic of Disney has made sure that the dates suit all of us obviously!
There are far too many restaurants for us to choose from!! How on Earth could we narrow this down? What you will need to do is have breakfast, lunch and dinner in different places! Add in a few for snacks... a coffee here and there - you'd still probably have tonnes left over to add to the list :rotfl:
Is your Boyfriend is a Disney fan too? I tried dragging my ex with me last year and he flat out refused... spoil sport! Luckily my friends were only too willing to step in for him! :rotfl2:

How exciting!! You'll be graduating AND you'll be visiting Disney!! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you - I hope there will be a touch of pixie dust with your booking! That would be so amazing for you!! :wizard:

Planning-wise, the only thing I have set in concrete is upon arrival to the park my first ride is Pirates of the Caribbean... it has been a tradition since my first ever trip over 10 years ago :lmao:

Erm...NO! He's a Disney-hater! :scared1: He has never been to a Disney park, thinks its all for kids and that I'm a bit mental! We've been together for 4 years, living together for more than 2, and this is me only just managing to drag him there!
It's just 2 nights so that if he truly hates it, he won't be stuck there for too long. After our last visit, though, I'm confident there is enough for him to do for 2 days between thrill rides, funny shows and good restaurants. I have already accepted he will never be one for character interaction, but you never know, the magic might capture him once we're there :wizard:
I live in hope!
At least you know where you're starting :goodvibes We have started both trips by watching the hub show, its happened to be starting as we walked down main st. really throws you into the magic!

Eurgh why are boyfriends like that?! How dare they hate on Disney!!!

I am confident that when you get him there you'll be able to sway him and he'll, at very least, enjoy the park for the rides! Maybe he'll enjoy Disney Studios a bit more as he'll get to see the Moteur Action Stunt Show - then there's the Armageddon Special Effects Show - Tower of Terror - Rock n' Rollercoaster.... Oh dear I'm getting myself all excited too now!! :yay: :rotfl2:

Although the character interaction doesn't ever initially appeal to a lot of people, generally after a day of being 'in' the Disney Magic - they always find themselves getting in the spirit of it all!!

I have faith in you to make a Disneyland Paris fan out of him!!! :hippie:

Delighted for you - sounds like an excellent plan - he may well turn out to be the biggest Disneyland fan ever!!!:lmao: and will want to return year after year for ever more! We loved the SL when we stayed there! Can't wait ot read your posts! as they are always entertaining! Have great fun with all your plans!:banana::banana::banana:

Thanks guys :goodvibes
His mum told me that he loved Tarzan and Toy Story when he was younger, I'm hopeful that the inner child/Disney fan will emerge!
I've witnessed this in action - when I was 12 we went to WDW with my aunt, uncle and cousins. My uncle was very sceptical about it all, thought it was a load of consumer-driven nonsense, he was just there for his daughters. Our first park was the Studios, where we bumped into Donald Duck. My grumpy uncle's face lit up and he was the first one in for a photo! Turns out Donald was his favourite character as a kid :goodvibes He had a magical time just like the rest of us, and we went back a few years later.
You're right about the Studios, rottie. We will have just one full day in the parks, so I plan to spend most of this in the Studios where there is a lot more that he will like.

Good on your uncle!! I'm a Goofy, Donald, Daisy and Dale fan myself... oh and Stitch... and - oh the list goes on! :rotfl2:

You're going to have such an amazing time and I just know the inner child in him will be itching to come out the moment he steps onto Main Street USA!!

Out of curiousity, which restaurants are you considering visiting?? :confused3

My favourites on my last trip were Walts and Blue Lagoon, but also need to go to Annette's as I know BF will love it. I loved the Steakhouse as well though :confused3 See my dilemma?!
I think I'll try for Walts or Blue Lagoon on the Wednesday night, Annette's for lunch on Thursday then a late dinner at the Steakhouse on Thursday night. But that will definitely change several times in 6 months :rotfl:
At least I can rule out character dining, he would hate that. And neither of us are too keen on buffets. Silver Spur was great as well, but we will probably only manage one dinner in the park due to the likelihood of early closing times :(
Which are your favourite restaurants?

I've never eaten in Walts or Blue Lagoon... I quite fancy Blue Lagoon though - is it nice? Do they only serve seafood? :confused3

My favourite restaurants are Silver Spur Steakhouse, I loved Annettes because of the whole being served on rollerskates lol but I am also a Planet Hollywood fan and I find them kinda similar... I do really like Inventions but I know you're not a buffet fan... My mind has actually drawn a blank right now :scared1: I love everything!

Oh snack-wise I always make it my mission to visit the coffee-shop down Main Street USA - I can't remember the name but it's on the right-hand side as you're walking towards the castle and they serve the most delicious cookies around!

I'd quite like to try Walts out in March... everybody says it's fantastic, but each time I go it seems to be closed :confused3 - maybe they don't want riff-raff like me in there! :rotfl:

Check out my trip report (link in my signature) from November 2010 for lots of restaurant descriptions and photos :thumbsup2
I loved Blue Lagoon because I'm a seafood nut, I had a shark steak. My mum had chicken colombo and sister had chicken burger, so there is plenty of other stuff too even though the emphasis is on seafood.
Walts is the most beautiful restaurant in DLP :goodvibes We had lunch there on our last day and it was perfect - I know what you mean though, always closed! In September 2009 we tried to go on 2 different days and it was always shut. This year we had booked it for the Monday in advance and it was still shut! Really glad we finally made it there on the Friday!
Mmm you mean the Cable Car Bake Shop! Always a favourite with us too!

The Cable Car Bake Shop!!!! That's the one!!! :yay: No visit to the park is complete without taking a few minutes to sit down and just enjoy a nice cup of coffee with cookies from there! :lovestruc

Oh Shark Steak?! I am DEFINATELY going to give that a go!! I must put that on my agenda for March (remind me!! lol :goodvibes )

I loved your trip reports! I like that you go back and forth from the parks and even leave the park BEFORE closing time and relax in Disney Village for lunch or Hotels at dinner time too... I have always just made sure I spent the entire day in the parks and then worried about dinner later purely because the parks had shut! Looks like I've been doing it wrong all this time!!!! :worship:

Thank you :goodvibes there probably isn't a "right" way to do it, we were lucky to be there for 6 days so we had the luxury of taking things easy and still managing to do everything. Meals are always a very important part of the holiday for me, as you can tell from my trippies!
And I'd highly recommend the shark, it was unusual but very very tasty :lovestruc

Yippeeeeee!!!

Great news :goodvibes hoping you get some Disney Graduation Magic!! :wizard:

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes
The 6 months should fly in, what with Christmas season in the restaurants where we work :scared1:
Dissertation due in January :scared1:
Serious job hunting/interviews in February/March :scared1:
And exams in May! :scared1::scared1:

I would possibly go insane without a Disney trip to count down to, I suspect my BF knows this and that's why he's being so saintlike in agreeing to come. :thumbsup2
Sequoia Lodge is now my light at the end of the university tunnel :cloud9:
