How about getting off the boards & sorting out some things to sell on Ebay - you'll be surprised how much you can make from unwanted clothes/dvds/ornaments etc. There's no time like the present as tomorrow is 10p listing day so get snapping - after all what else will you be doing with no money for a social life? :rotfl:

Good luck! If all else fails, what about one of those interest free credit cards & pay off over the next 9 months or so?:thumbsup2

We've made a couple of hundred smackeroos on eBay this week. 10p listing day is the day to list your high value stuff. :thumbsup2

Have you decided yet Joh?

I reckon you and Gary could scrimp for the next three months and make it but it seems your not taking the kids? Would they be expected to get no treats for the next three months aswell even though there's no WDW at the end of it for them?

:)

Joh, you KNOW it's going to happen! Once you start thinking along the lines of 'I think we can do this.....' you've already lost the debate with yourself.

Tighten the belt a bit and get saving. I mean, you don't need to eat EVERY day surely? :rotfl2:

Quite right Kev, and in August she gets to see WDW's greatest attraction - me and you:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

No, they won't be expected to go without treats. I have allowed for them to still get their pocket money, although it has to be said they don't get a great many treats anyway. The girls are going to stay with their grandparents in August (their choice - although I can't understand what the grandparents have got that WDW hasn't  ). We would have taken Daniel but he seems to have his heart set on Great Yarmouth :rotfl: But to answer your question, the kids wouldn't suffer as a result of the cutbacks, no!

Me thinks your not brainwashing the young un enough!

I also agree with many, your minds made up and the pre-planning has begun!

I know Kev - but then it's not me that needs convincing  I am still hoping to persuade Gary that it makes sense - to be honest, I think your skills of persuasion are needed in this instance ;) Only trouble is, now you've got me to give up smoking, I've lost what bargaining power I once had :sad2:

Joh

How exciting :) Let us know what you decide and can you put me in your suitcase !

Your kids must be a lot more understanding than mine - I can't imagine them letting Stephen and me go to Disney without them. And to be honest if I put myself in their shoes I know I would be upset if my parents went without me.

I know that Disney isn't just for kids but I couldn't imagine going to Disney without my brood now that they are here (I could imagine going before they were born but it has taken this long to convince Stephen to go to Disney! :sad2: ). If I went without them I would feel so guilty.

If I was a kid (under the age of 18) I would be very upset if my parents went to Disney without me but maybe I am just selfish. :confused3 . Even if I was going to stay with my grandparents - give most kids the choice between a few weeks with the grandparents or a week or so at Disney with their parents...

I know how you feel Joh, No holiday for us this year as we have had one for the last 3 years and savings have now run dry, was hoping to plan for something next year, but Vickis college trip next year is to go to New York, on a photography course for 7 days, so I think all the saving this year will have to go towards that. The year after she will be 19, and I guess going to Magaluf with her friends,:rolleyes1 so I will then be on the Saga coach tours holidays on my own if you fancy it:rotfl:

You could always threaten to withhold certain 'favours'. :rotfl:

You and I have had this conversation before, hun, but no need to feel guilty about the kids. You and I know one another well enough to know that none of ours miss out.

I appreciate your sentiments, albeit that they are off topic ;) Without wishing to sound rude, I'm not about to begin to try and justify myself to you or anyone. Suffice to say, there will be plenty of opportunities in the future for the kids to go to WDW with us :)

Oh no very sorry wasnt intending on being rude at all! just wondering if you had considered it or spoken to your kiddiewinks about it. The only person you ever have to justify yourself to is yourself.

I just know I would be upset but as I said I am a pretty selfish and self-centred person.

My 'kiddiewinks' are 4, 13 and 14. Believe it or not, the 13 and 14 year olds, when told that there 'may be a chance' we would be going to WDW this summer both said that, while they would like to go, they wanted to see their Grandma and they are coming with us next year anyway.

The little one, having never been, doesn't really understand what he's missing - and would probably have as good a time (if not better) at the beach being spoiled by his grandparents. He has many years of WDW trips ahead of him, at an age where he will have a better appreciation of it :)
