Well, I've finally got my account back but have many negative feedbacks because of it so i'm waiting for ebay to get back to me about removing them. It was 105 items bought from my account totalling £17,500.

As soon as it happened I changed all my passwords for everything else I hve including these boards, I'm not taking any chances anymore.

Ebay told me to install the ebay toolbar as it was the ONLY guarantee of 100% security so I feel a bit safer now and I perform scans evry night now. Thank god the bleep bleep bleep bleep didn't get my paypal details!!

At about 4pm some flaming b*****d took my ebay details and bought about £5000 worth of stuff, I am so so :furious: .

I managed to get on a live chat with a guy from e-bay who for about half an hour went through everything with me and got my account back.

All my passwords were changed, my e-mail address and paypal and 10 minutes after getting back on to e-bay to try and get DH a christmas present and I cannot get back on because my password doesn't match AGAIN :furious:

Some !!******* ****** ******* *******!! has gone and done it again and I probably won't now get a response from e-bay until tomorrow.

Ive changed my e-mail password again so this is to warn you all that with Christmas so near be very very careful.

Please do not answer anything from e-bay that comes through in your e-mail box unless you have requested a change yourself.

Yeah this happended to me a couple of months back, but somebody sold loads of items instead, luckily i was online when the confirmation emails were coming through so nothing sold. Ebay were really good. Had my paypal account nicked to in the past...now that really bugged me cus they stole £400 out of my bank account.

I'm slightly p****d off today as well as Paypal have decided that after several years of verified use, all of a sudden I'm no longer verified so I cannot send any money. :badpc:

I've got to wait for them to send two small amounts into my bank account and once I've confirmed the amounts I'm up and running again.

I did this years ago but it appears that their system has gliched in the past few days. :furious:

daipp, not to scare you (and it may be totally ligit) but that's one of the scam emails being sent. I get several each week telling me a) a new user has been added to my PayPal account, b) my PayPal account has been cancelled or changed and c) my PayPal password has been changed at my request. I just got one today (and one a few days ago) and I haven't used E-Bay or PayPal in well over a year. Maybe two.

I contacted PayPal directly the first time I got one of those emails and none of these things had occured on my account. NEVER open an email from 'PayPal' unless you are absolutely positive it came from them (ie: you spoke with them and are expecting a reply, with the appropriate details in the Subject line).

The E-Bay/PayPal problem is a big one. I no longer do business with either because they're too risky to be worth the trouble. Your milage may vary.

Glad you sorted this out. As Susan says there are lots of these emails from Paypal and ebay that pretend to be the real thing. NEVER, that's right NEVER open a link in an email. If the communication is geniune then log on to your account the usual way, where you will soon see a message if it exists :goodvibes

Thanks for the advice however, I have not received an e-mail from Paypal. This happened when I logged onto their site to pay someone. I also use the Ebay Toolbar which would have picked up any scam sites.

Best wishes

David

Oh no Guys, I hope you manage to sort everything out with ebay today :thumbsup2

That's why I said your situation may be total ligit. I don't know anything about it, but I do know you're likely to start getting emails from 'PayPal' if you haven't already. You may want to keep a wary eye out for scam email after using PayPal (who, by the way, are completely ligit. I've used them many times, with no problem. They're just a big target for scammers, as we see here with the OP's post).

It is possible to set hotmail email accounts to show the exact path of any email you receive. Don't know how to do it because my son did it for my account.

Now I have quite a few lines that list the total origin of the email so when I get an email particularly from ebay/paypal it is very easy to see if they have come from proper sources or just from some free email account which all the scamming ones do. I never enter details from emails in any case, I just go to the official site if there appears to be a problem, you have to be so careful.

I once fell for the scam e-mail, luckily all that happened was that my e-mails were redirected (I thought it went quiet) to someone trying to get details, so i soon sorted it out. I buy the odd bit of scrapping stuff for my WDW album but I'm trying not to spend too much on there.

My DH had a nasty experience where the buyer claimed that they had never received the item and Paypal refunded her the full amount, putting DH in debit. It happened after his main flurry of selling before Christmas last year, and he only noticed it by chance. It has taken many months to get it sorted out, even though he pointed out that she had left positive feedback about the item, as they transferred the "debt" to a dollar account and wanted to charge him for the priviledge. Its sorted now but we're waiting a bit to make sure nothing further happens.

£17,500 :faint: Thanks for the warning, I haven`t had any of those scam emails for ages - but they have a way of getting to you.
Pleased you`re getting it sorted.
