Ivan Was Horrible.....

HELLO FRIENDS!!

I don't want to talk long as I have a friend here with me sitting in the hotel lobby as I type on the computer.

DH and I evacuated to Albany GA as we decided, sticking out Ivan was not what we wanted to do. We've been here since Tuesday and won't be leaving til Saturday. I've been watching the news and talking to friends and it's impossible to get back home right now. They say the damage Ivan caused was worse than it was for OPAL. I just want to get back home to see the damage. I left my babies...my cats...as they don't travel well, but they have one another and I'm sure they will be just fine. I live in an apartment complex with brick foundation, so I'm sure all should be well.

I will talk to you as soon as I can. There is no power I here in A LOT of places and no water, so if there's a long period of time before you here from me, don't panic. Just know, that DH and I are well and survived IVAN.

We were prepared for the worse, but only got some wind and not a drop of rain! We were very lucky. I hope things aren't too bad for y'all when you return home.

I hope you fear the worst and are blessed with less destruction that you have expected. I haven't been keeping myself as informed with Ivan as with Frances, but I know that this storm was much more powerful. I hope you can return safely home soon to find your babies waiting in an apartment that's not been seriously damaged.

We had 60mph winds and still have flooding and mudslides. It's bad. My wooden fence is down and my ceiling is leaking in my GR.



We are very lucky to have power though, most don't. We have underground utilities.

Oh Denise,--I'm so glad to see that you and your DH are OK. I've been worrying about you as I watched Ivan's path. So glad you evacuated and went somewhere safe. I have my fingers crossed that all is well with your home and your cats.

Thank you all for your well wishes. I've had to use the money I had saved for Disney for this evacuation, but I suppose, someplace safe to stay is better than a trip to Disney in 2006.
I just hope DH and I and the family we are travelling with can get back in to our homes...so many bridges are closed and so many roads are watered out , I suppose we will scope things out tomorrow (saturday) and see where we stand.
