Ivan Tornado hit 2 doors down from us!

We were watching our local news broadcast yesterday & saw the location just miles away.

Our weatherman told us to head to the basement & take cover if we were near a certain road & we did!

... OK, I peaked out the basement window to see the "swirling winds" in our backyard & headed under the couch w/ dh, & 2 dd's.

We lost power almost immediately 5'ish & got it back on about on around 2:30 am.

The worst damage that we saw last night was roof damage, entire sections of fences ripped up, trees twisted & uprooted and laying on the road & on houses.

One family did lose their carport & one of the 4x4's is in their upper level of their home.

Several homes a few miles north of us lost entire 2nd floors of their homes!

We thank God that we were spared!

Our thoughts & prayers go out to those who have suffered through Ivan's latest destruction!

Are you near Remington? I was watching the storm damage on TV lastnight, they seem to be the hardest hit.

It was unbelievable here yesterday/lastnight! Very scary!

And it was one year ago today that hurricane Isabel wrecked havoc in Virginia!

We are so glad it is over!

The winds & rain continued until the wee hours of the am.

we just got back from a walk through the neighborhood & MANY cars were damaged ... totaled!

Sure wish we had the price gouging law in our neighborhood as the prices that were quoted by tree removal companies were incredible ... as much as $3,500 for 1 tree!

Many roofs will need significant repairs.
