I have an iPod Nano and iTunes, for our long 18 hours drive to WDW I Was planning on getting DD (shes only 5 so she doesn't need too many songs, but she is a music person) a cheap mp3 player. If i do this, is itunes compatible with it? And is it easy to use?
Thanks!

I would get her Sansa mp3 player. They is very easy mp3 player to use. All have do drag and drop songs in a folder and the mp3player and ready to go. The go part you is not tie to itunes. You get music from anywhere. Amazon, Wal-Mart and other places. I love my to death.

I have bought my three foster kids sansa mp3 players. The ages 7 twins and a soon be 5 year old. They all can work them by themselves. As matter fact they use they we went bus trip to New York City with my son's boy scouts. Those things is durable.

But I love know how my mom broke hers. I think she drove it and did not realize.

I am big fan of sansa mp3 players.

have you bought songs off itunes that you'll want on the other mp3 player? If so, I'd suggest you verify that they can actually play those songs, since songs purchased off itunes will have drm protection (at least they did when I used to have an ipod), so those songs could only be played on an ipod or through the itunes program. When I switched programs on my pc to organize/play songs, none of those songs would even show up as a choice (I had to get a program to remove the drm protection before I could access those songs on the other player).

iTunes removed their DRM protection a while ago. The problem will be files bought more than say 18 months ago.

The other work around you'll have to do is the ACC encoding. This is actually pretty easy...you'll just have to make sure you covert any ACC encoded songs to MP3s. I converted 34 songs this am in less than 5 min. You just have to make sure your input preferences are set to MP3 encoder instead of ACC encoder. You can switch back and forth w/out issue but the option for "convert to MP3" doesn't show up unless you are set to MP3 encoder.

I looked it up. Anything purchased on iTunes after 1-6-09 is DRM free. There is a press release from that day that details "upgrading" to the DRM free version of previously purchased tracks for a small amount ($0.30) but I don't know if that option is still available.
