It's worse than i thought,It's horrible!!!(FDNY academy)

hi all,
well if some of you remember my post about being accepted into the FDNY's top terrorist training and weapons of mass destruction class a couple of weeks ago.well today was the first full day of class,it was so,so,so,so,so, boring!first i had to commute in 2 hours of rain and traffic,i was up at 3 am and left at 4:30 am.i usally am first going to bed at 4 am.then i get there and 8 hours of lectures of chemicals and bio logical agents.i needed to stand in the back of the room a few times to keep myself awake,even after several cups of super charged coffee.i really thought this one class,the one i've been trying to get into for years with the FDNY would be awesome,but sleepy is a better way to describe it.i have 2 and a half weeks more of this,yay!the only light at the end of the tunnel is that it ends on jan 20,and then back to the fire house for 2 weeks and then vacation to disney world.

the only good part today was we got to meet with the chief of the dept.he explained how we few are the super trained in the FDNY that if there was ever a bio logical,chemical or nuclear attack against nyc,we would be the first to go.i think he meant the first to go as in death,but others said he meant the first to go into the hot zone and work.i still think he meant death,i think we are the guinea pig's of the dept.if you see me collapse or pass out at a scene,RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate that when you are excited to take a class and learn and it doesn't meet your expectations at all. What a disappointment. Hopefully just the first day is slow and it will get better. Keep us updated!

As the wife of a firefighter with LOTS of classes and training as well as teaching under his belt, let me just say, THEY ALL SEEM BORING!! The job is a KICK in the pants, but the book stuff rotts it seems.
But..the world is safer for having you, and for the knowledge you gain!
