"Its tough to be a bug" refurbishment August.

Just seen this while looking arounf tonight. Its one of mine and DGF favs and its shut while we are there .

They are not doing Universal this trip. Its their 1st visit and only for 14 nights so I think they will have enough with Disney, SeaWorld & Busch. I am sure we can find some large spiders in Busch.

Don't tell her it's about spiders make out that it is a cute little show. I think it is, but had to escort my DD out halfway through the first time we went. It was our first trip, first attraction. She didn't trust me for anything for a few hours But now she wants to show me how much she has grown up Thankfully it should be back, if they are on time, at least before we leave.

DD and i had already been planning that we would have to be sure to have DSIL lean forward just before the stingers - he broke his back 5 years ago, somehow i don't think those stingers would be such a good idea for him..

i know DS is going to be disappointed....he hasn't been to WDW in 6 years (since before he was drafted)....i'm sure he was looking forward to seeing this one with his wife....oh well...won't be the only thing we don't see i'm sure..

Last year was terrible with refurbs. There seemed to be so many things closed between August and November. I don't know if it was because it was the first time we went during 'off' season or if it was to do with the expansion preparations, but it just seemed to be way beyond the usual routine refurbishments. Hopefully this year won't be as bad. DD was so disappointed that the Mad Hatters Tea Party was closed when we went (can't say I was ) and ironically I had a Teacup ticker for that trip. Hopefully they won't add too much else to the list.

i just checked disney.com and this closing isn't listed there..
i wonder where they got this from...

maybe the disney.com site hasn't been updated yet..

at AK it only shows primeval hurl being closed....

anyway, while i was there i noticed a few other closings during our trip:
Epcot - nothing listed as closed
DHS - Voyage of The Little Mermaid - Closed For Refurbishment [ Saturday, August 13 - Saturday, September 03 ]
AK - Primeval Whirl - Closed For Refurbishment [ Wednesday, June 01 - Wednesday, September 14 ]
MK - Frontierland Shootin' Arcade - Closed For Refurbishment [ Monday, June 13 - Friday, September 30 ]
The Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management - Closed For Refurbishment [ Wednesday, June 01 - Monday, August 15 ]

so the tiki room is actually reopening for us
supposedly it's going back to what it was....it will be interesting...

It's possible they haven't updated Disney.com yet. I do recall hearing about closures a while before they updated their refurb list. Usually from Touringplans.com and WDWinfo. Ironic that the rumours are often more reliable than the official site

The allears site has the date for re-opening of the Tiki Room as "around 15th August" so it looks like it's just a guess at the moment.

From memory I think we have MK pencilled in for the 18th, last full day before our relatives fly home so it would be great if it re-opened for then. If not we will be back in after the cruise could be 22nd or 23rd.

I was looking at the refurbs for August the other day and was pleased there didnt seem too many this year. Last year we didnt get on Small World or Toy Story Mania so looking forward to those this year. Not too bothered about the bugs life as we did that a few times last year (for a nice rest and to get out of the sun sometimes !)

Should really re-name the title "Its tough to be a bug" refurbishment August & September! seeing as it effects the whole of this month!

We are going 14th - 29th Sept and really gutted this wont be open! AK doesn't have an awful lot that we really enjoy but this is one of them!

Not to fussed about the bugs life didnt think it was that great...

But DD would of been upset about little mermaid, we get there 23/8 - 5/9 so looks like that will done on our last day in parks on the 4th Sept...
