Great report so far - Christmas at DLP really is so magical.

Poor DD I hope she didn't suffer afterwards from her scald.

Friday 18th November 2011

Our last wake up call from Mickey – short trips really are over too quickly!!
We tried to finish our packing before breakfast, but I couldn’t find my decorations that I’d bought the day before... we then realised we had forgotten to collect our shopping! It also occurred to me that we had not collected any photos either! Time for a trip to the hotel shop. I should point out that it was cheaper to buy the photo package in the hotel than to buy the photo vouchers (which I had forgotten about until now anyway!)

Shopping collected and photos selected we made our way to Cafe Mickey for our character breakfast. I really enjoy these and think they are a good value character meal, usually pretty relaxed and plenty to eat for all of us. We met Pinocchoi & Gepetto (MIL’s fave film), Pluto (MIL’s fave character!), Mickey, Chip & Dale. It was a lovely start to the day!

We went back to the hotel to check out trying to avoid characters or we would never make it to the park!!

Today was our Disney Studios Day!

We arrived in time for a Meet & Greet in Front Lot...

We had a leisurely stroll through for the first showing of Stitch Live and we were the first in! I was hopeful that for the first time DD may actually be chosen as Stitch’s friend as there were only 6 children there! He made 3 friends but none of them were DD. However, as she got to tell him that the nose was a phone and he did reply to her, she was made up!!! “Stitch talked to me!” Phew!

To top this off, as we left we saw the usual character scrums outside, we were trying to distract DD until we saw Stitch..! I persevered with the crowds surrounding him, and when I felt it was her turn, I called his name and...

He was playing with her Stitch & Angel toy and gave her the biggest hug. Today just kept getting better!

Next up we spotted Sully at his photo location and it would have been rude not to! DD went up on her own for the first time. I have seen a lot of little ones terrified here!!

I then took MIL on a tour of the new Toy Story Playland and as there were virtually non-existant queues we had a go on the Slinky Dog Ride! DD was adamant that we were NOT going on the Parachute Drop – we did not enjoy that on our last trip!

As we were leaving we saw Buzz and as we had never met him before we had to get a photo – especially for DH!

It was 5 minutes before Cinemagique was due to start so we ran round to the studio only to find a CM shaking her head. I thought we were too late but it turns out that there were technical problems with Cinemagique so we decided to get a drink and I wrote my postcards.

We went to watch Animagique next which DD loves! When it finished, MIL said, “Oh, has it finished? I was just getting into it!”

We decided to see if Cinemagique had recovered from it’s earlier problems and it had!! I chose seats near the front and were sat in front of you know who!! MIL got quite a shock when it started!! I love this, absolutely love it, and was so engrossed that I completely forgot about some of the “effects”, so we all got a shock!! MIL loved this, especially spotting all the films.

We emerged just in time for the Cars & Stars Parade. We weren’t early enough to get the spot we had hoped for but we waited by the rope behind the right of the stage area. Did I mention that DD’s top “To Do” was to meet Mulan? Well, she changed into her Mulan dress, and we waited (me with fingers crossed!!) We couldn’t really see the show, but we saw all the cars and a lot of characters - Gaston, Snow White & Dopey, Woody, Jasmine & Aladdin, Cruella, Remy & Emile. They all made lovely comments to DD about her dress! When Cruella came over she was amazing, “Daaaaaarling you look fabulous!!” she said to DD. “Have you seen Mulan yet? She would love to see you! I shall tell her to come & see you.” She was good to her word, and after her part in the show, Mushu & Mulan came skipping over, not stopping for anyone else! She made such a fuss of DD, taking her under the rope, taking photos, talking about her dress, etc. It was magical!! Mushu was great too, and much naughtier than I have noticed previously! He was looking up Mary Poppins’ dress and Ariel’s! Cheeky dragon! Needless to say, DD was walking on air after this!

I don’t think MIL had expected anything like this either. As the parade ended, the Christmas music was playing again, and MIL & I were skipping along much to DD’s embarrassment!

As we had ticked off everything on our to do list we headed back to Disneyland Park, the sun was shining and coats were off!

DD chose to ride on Star Tours and then Orbitron. I have to tell you about this (although maybe one of those stories that’s funnier if you were there, sorry!) DD was in charge of our space rocket and so we were flying high in no time, but no sign of MIL. When I peered over the side, I spotted her still flying where she’d started, she hadn’t moved! Then I noticed why – she couldn’t reach the handle to make it go higher!! MIL is not the tallest, it’s fair to say, did make me laugh though!

Time now for our Late lunch in Walts – oh my word. Once again this did not disappoint. We all loved our meals. MIL had the herb crusted cod and I had the duck – it was just dreamy! DD chose the fish & chips. I love the food here and the view from the windows was lovely to see again after our last visit during the refurb. After our deliciouss desserts we were suitably stuffed...

Parade time! We were tempted to stay in Walts but we went out into Main Street instead. As Duffy went past, then Santa and then the snow started to fall – it was a lovely end to our last day...

We left the park and had time for some more shopping before our Ezyshuttle transfer to take us to Airport.
The end of our Christmas Trip and it was everything we had hoped for and more! The Christmas magic must have come home with us too because DH wants to go back this year for the Christmas season – yippeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

We are going for Christmas (end Nov/beg Dec) for the first time this year and I cannot wait! I am so looking forward to seeing the Parks and hotels decorated for Christmas and to see my DDs' faces when they see Santa/Decs/Snow etc .

I can officially confirm that YES we are going back at the same time this year!!

We have booked to go November 21st - 25th and I can't wait! DLP is magical but at Christmas it is on another level! I can't wait to go back - keep your fingers crossed for me that Dreams is still on then!!
