Hey everyone.

I was dreaming of surprising my DS with a trip to WDW for his birthday, which is January 17. It happens to be a 3-day weekend. I booked a WDW for fun. Not sure if we will actually go...

Anyway, I counted out the weeks until his birthday. 19 weeks. And it got me thinking about what kind of turn around I could do in my life if I were very determined and just DID it. Like Nike.

I started envisioning all the changes that I would make in an ideal world, the strict diet, the exercise program. Extreme changes to make an extreme difference. This isn't ever recommended. Baby steps first they say. Doesn't seem to work for me.

HOWEVER, when I was pregnant, I was the most disciplined that I have ever been in life. In an instant, I quit smoking, I gave up caffeine, I gave up alcohol, I started making every calorie count (because I was a bit overweight already), I started exercising, I did yoga (I was very concerned about being fit and having a good childbirth experience). So many sudden changes. Because I was SO MOTIVATED for the once in a lifetime chance to give my child the best start in life possible.

And that got me thinking...

If I can do it for DS, can I do it for myself? When I was pregnant with DS I had already been treating myself so much than I am now for 3-4 months. 19 weeks is WAY shorter for being strict with diet and exercise than the 37 that I carried him.

So, I'm instigating the child birthday challenge. Not everyone is as fanatical as I was while they are pregnant. But if this mindset would help you? If you would be motivated by thinking about how much you cared for your physical self when you were pg, then how about joining me? And do it for yourself this time.

My goal date is January 17. I hope to get as close to my 52 pound weight loss goal as possible. I'm hoping to break bad habits and form new ones. I'm going to maintain the seriousness of the need for watching food and exercising like a life depended on it for the whole 19 weeks and see where that takes me...who's with me?
