"It's Safe to Say, I Love You!" A Solo Jan Adventure!-Now Completed!

Very nice report so far! I have gone on several solo trips to Disney and always had a perfect trip. I did more character photos than usual in Nov and saw Baloo for the first time. No King Louie though.
Looking forward to reading more!

Thanks! I'm glad you're liking it! I absolutely love solo trips! I know I'll be taking more in the future, that's for sure! It's so much easier to tour at your own pace, and being able to take the trip when you want to, when you have the cash, and not have to wait for everyone else to be able to save! Characters are awesome!!

Where we left off I was finishing up some meet & greets over in Camp Minnie Mickey and was headed over to the Festival of the Lion King!! HECK YES!! JUST as I hit the little gate you go through, there was the dreaded tour group, just a sea of purple, I managed to get in the middle of them to squeeze through the cue (the lady in charge was counting everyone as they went in, there was no way I was waiting through that to get behind them) and zip my way through them and into the theatre. I was so excited for this show, as most of you may have guessed, I kinda like it. Ok, understatement! It’s my favorite. It’s also my dream job to be the bird dancer, and they JUST had auditions for it, seriously…last Friday… was I at them? No. Why? Well, I figured, they’ll have them again in another year, so I’ve got a year to really drill my ballet technique & build up my resume before auditioning. Also, thanks to the arial work in the show, the posting says you have to be under 115lbs. Yup…you read that right..115…which, you think at first isn’t that bad at all, especially considering that we’re talking about dancers…then you look at it in reality, and I’ll go ahead and say that I’m 10 pounds over that limit. Now, it’s possibly that they put the restriction that low to ward off anyone who wasn’t within 5, so a 120 would be acceptable, they just want to say it’s lower to ward people off. Who knows? :confused3

Anyway, now that my ramblings are done, here we go! I arrived in the theatre a little bit earlier, so I was in time for all the pre-show stuff, learning the hand jive, etc. I was soon to find out that I was in the giraffe section, boooo…I’d much rather be in the lion section any day! (plus…the lion sections gets the cute guy….am I right?!) But, I was at my favorite show, so here we go!

Yup…that girl, right there, want her job…also…can I just point out that they have ribbons periodically through the show, and I definitely have rhythmic gymnastics background as well (a heck of a lot of it too) GASHSHDFFDSGFGH!! <-how I feel.

Tumble Monkeys!! Can we just pause and talk about how much in shape these guys must be?!! :faint: like, seriously, they’re tumbling, and up on those bars like, 6 times a day! They must have some killer muscles! I mean, I know the gymnastics stuff isn’t the most difficult, but still, to be DOING it that many times a day, who knows how many times a week. That sure is a good way to stay in shape!

While I was watching the show, the thought of how much this guy gets paid crossed my mind. Like, seriously?! That thought kinda crossed my mind at many various different points throughout my trip, and how all of it works. Like, I know that if you’re one of the “chorus” people in the FOTLK, you’re also appearing in parades, and as a character performer & character look-alike. (possibly all of them, maybe sometimes just 1 or 2) But the bird dancers are “Disney equity” and if you’re them, that’s all you do. Then my mind gets rolling on the Dream Along W/Mickey dancers, do they just do that, or do they also do the Halloween & Christmas stage shows?! SO MANY QUESTIONS!

Now back to the show…

Now, I’ve got to continue this in another post, as I have too many pictures…plus I’ve been using the emoticons…(is that even what they’re called…the smileys...yeah…those things).

Continued in Next Post!

And here we go with the money shots!! The BEST performance….ever…

Yup. Money shots. I fell so much in love with this performance all over again watching it in person. It was also really nice to be there myself & really just be able to appreciate it & not be caring what anyone else thought! While watching it I confirmed to myself that I did *need* to get that job, it makes me so happy to even think about doing it, and hey, you get awesome blue jazz slippers!! Thus, I made the decision that I will audition for it next year, meaning I’ve got a full year to work on all the ballet technique, and to take the time to really just tone up & really just rock it out! I did pay some more attention to how big she was, and she did look superbly tiny, but that was more just at the rib/natural waist line, her legs were super muscle dancer legs. So, goal: set! Now, on with the show!

This is the part of the show where Timon says “you were fantastic, especially you! You were great!” and I didn’t notice that it was actually to a kid from the audience! I have the soundtrack on my I-pod, so I knew he said it, but didn’t know that! Little fact!

I need to be a part of this!! Oh so much! I left the theatre beaming & all smiles, wishing that I could start looking up ballet classes back at home in that moment, but really didn’t want to waste that much 3G on my phone. And speaking of my phone, since my last trip, I had gotten an I-Phone, and wanted to get a Disney case, so I made sure to stop in some gift shops next while I decided what I wanted to do. I was done with rides in AK, and had done my show, so I figured, well, it’s time for om noms…let’s go to Epcot!! So with my phone case bought, I said good bye to Animal Kingdom! Now, I was in AK a total of 3 hours, and had accomplished everything I needed to, including riding Everest 5 times in about 2 hours! Heck yes to EMH in the am!! Love it! (So with that, I’d say it’s about 11 am right about now…)….

P.s....if anyone hasn't seen the show, and wants to this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqQxVGZ5RH0 is the best link I've been able to find. The whole show is pretty long, but this is the best bird dancer I could find!!

I have never seen FOTLK. I have heard so many good things about it. It is definitely a must do on my next trip.

Ok, ok, we'll try to see the show this trip! :rotfl2:

Seriously, I know that I tease, but I do so hope that you get a job in that show someday. I'd see it every visit if you were dancing!

3 hours at AK and you got everything done? Wow!

YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!!!:cool1::thumbsup2 It's absolutely amazing, it's honestly so jam packed with talent & absolutely amazing!!

Bahaha!! You have to!! I plan on getting it next year, I've got a year to work up to it, so I believe it! To quote Disney "if you can dream it, you can do it!!" And heck yes I did. Although I skipped Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids, & Finding Nemo...but I just don't care for them!

Alright, so I figured I would stop in here with a real life update to keep things rolling today!! It is now official (as it was booked last night!!) that we will be taking a trip down to the world again, and soon!! (not that that's a surprise with me...) So here are the details!

When: April 22-28th/2012

Where: Staying at Caribbean Beach Resort, standard view!
(I'm excited to try a Moderate, I know it'll be awesome for everyone, but after having the Poly to myself...:confused3 it's definitely more of a resort to simply sleep in this time!)

Who: Well, Me obviously! Also, Tyler will be joining us (hopefully his friend crown royal will stay at home this time...) For those of you who don't know him, he's a "brother" of mine, who came on the Sept trip with us, and he just happened to text me at just the right time while I was planning with Tanessa, and he got the time off, so we're set!

Also, Tanessa! She had wanted to go to Disney, and we had made tentative plans to go in May, but then the other 2 said they couldn't afford it. The two of us considered Mexico, but with me getting a Preimier Passport for Disney, I knew where my money was going, so we scrapped Mexico, and decided on Disney!!

Originally we were supposed to go the first week in May, but it turned out I actually have a ballroom competition that weekend, so I figured, let's bump it to April!

Our trip plans are like this:

22: Arrive! Magic Kingdom has some EMH tonight, so we'll probably head over there & check them out

23: Animal Kingdom (with AM EMH). Once we're done there, head to DTD? Tyler wants to check out Universal, so he might head over there today.

24: Magic Kingdom (rope drop!) With an 11:00am Breakfast at Crystal Palace!

25: Disney's Hollywood Studios (I'm debating a Fantasmic dinner pkg?)

26: Epcot (again, I'm not sure if we'll make any adr's for today)

27: Park hop everywhere! (starting at DHS w/AM EMH) This is another day Tyler could check out Universal. We have a 4:30pm dinner at 1900 Park Fare tonight.

28: Depending on what time our flight leaves, we might to Ohana or something for breakfast today, and then fly home!

We'll have 6 day park hopper tix, and are open to pretty much anything. So, if any of you are going to be there during that time, we're open to meet up for a ride, drink, m&g, etc!

Your trip sounds like a lot of fun...I would love to go by myself and do just the things I wanted and not have to worry about what everyone else is thinking. Can't wait to hear more!

I love the little museum room in the EE queue. I actually got really frustrated that I couldn't take time to really look at everything! :lmao: I really like museums, though.

I would LOVE to read something that details the inner workings of the Disney corp. Like I guess the basic park management, etc., but the "outside" departments like entertainment and sciences that no one really talks about that I find fascinating. Especially which stuff they contract out, like in the World Showcase, versus the in-house jobs.

Your spring trip sounds fun! What are you doing in your ballroom competition (besides ballroom, I just couldn't think of a better way to word the question!)? I miss doing partner dancing (and ballet), but I don't think I could convince my boyfriend to take some classes with me. Did you get to sign up for some ballet classes?

OMG! This is hilarious! We have the exact same touring schedule for the first 3 days, and would have the same for the first 5 if we weren't taking a partial resort day on the 25th! :lmao:

We're even doing Crystal Palace for breakfast on the 24th (8:50 am) so we'll miss the welcome show :sad2: and we're doing Tusker House breakfast on the 23rd, so we won't be able to take advantage of EMH.

I'd say that between that and staying at the same resort, it'll be hard for us NOT to run into one another! :rotfl: I'd say that you guys would be skipping Maddie's favorite part, but I know that you like characters too!

Keep your eyes peeled for a princess on the 24th, that's her BBB day. Maybe we'll all be in line for Ariel at the same time! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

This is toooooo weird!

ok, I'm still laughing about this. Here are our plans (but you have to promise to follow my PTR even though you know :lmao:)

22 MK until Wishes probably. 1900 PF for dinner
23 AK until early afternoon, pool time, Ohana dinner
24 MK all day CP breakfast, BBB noon, CRT late dinner
25 "down day" 1900 breakfast, DTD, prob DHS or Epcot afternoon, or maybe pool time, SOA show
26 DHS H&V breakfast, 50s PT lunch, Cape May dinner
27 Epcot Akershus breakfast, Via Napoli lunch, Cali Grill dinner
28 MK probably, but may do a multi park day, Ohana breakfast, Tonys lunch, Chef Mickey dinner

Isn't it wild that we planned such similar trips? I can't get over it!!!

Maybe we'll be at the same FotLK show!:banana::lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl:

Ok, after I posted all that... I forgot to mention that my MiL may be joining us for a couple of days (not sure which ones :sad2:) so I can't commit to a meet (yet).

I'd be shocked if our paths didn't cross anyway though!!

Thanks!! It was a fantastic trip! I'm glad you're here for the ride!

I definitely liked the fact that it wasn't too busy, and I could actually stop to look at some stuff without bein afraid of a bunch of people jumping infront of me in line for the ride! For my ballroom comp I'm doing waltz, quickstep, jive & cha-cha. It's definitely a lot, but I wanted to compete in the traditional & in the latin category, and there's 2 dances in each style. I haven't actually actually signed up yet, as we're in the middle of the season. I think classes open up again in May, in which I'll be taking jazz & ballet, but for now, I'll be doing some drop in classes!

Hahaa!! Clearly great minds think alike?! :rotfl: I'll definitely keep an eye peeled for ya guys! It would be too weird if we didn't end up passing by each other at some time or another! We'll definitely keep in touch and work something out!

I had just made the decision to head over to Epcot, I was finished with Animal Kingdom, and wanted some delicious cuisine (and let’s be serious, I HATE the counter service at DHS, where is where I would have been headed to next, and Epcot just has TOO MANY choices of food to eat) not to mention, my plan was to bus to Epcot, then walk through the Boardwalk to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. So, I made my way out of the park and over to the bus stop, I had apparently just missed the bus, as I ended up waiting quite a while. After a TTC bus pulled up & waited a bit, I asked the couple ahead of me how long they’d been there, and they said they’d just missed it, so it shouldn’t be long now!

Soon enough, the bus arrived, and I was now getting super hungry, I was in serious need of some om noms! We arrived at Epcot just as the tram had arrived from the parking lot, so the bag check was kind of crowded, but we still got through rather quickly. I decided that the food I needed could take some slow amount of time, I was chugging water, and might run into some more exciting things before I came to food.

Right as I hit the golf ball, I noticed Daisy was out, but she had quite the line, but my eye was drawn further over to the right, and I saw Stitch, just chillin, with absolutely no one around, and no one headed towards him! Of course I took the opportunity!

Photo0037FourBySix-1.jpg

He’s so cute!! I love Lilo & Stitch, it’s a movie that I can quote from start to finish, and it has so many qualities of awesome, it’s hilarious at moments, and can still make you cry. It teaches some lessons, and talks about Ohana. Not to mention, Stitch is just adorable!

I said good-bye to my alien friend, and headed around the corner to where I knew some other friends would be out. I was headed around this way:

136-1.jpg

137-1.jpg

Yup, food could wait! Sometimes, there are more important things, like characters! I jumped in line for Chip & Dale next, and here, was when the wait was a little too long for my taste, I think it was just because I was getting more & more hungry, who knows?! When I finally got to the front of the line, they were great, as per usual, the flirting, the hand kisses, etc.

138-1.jpg

I finished with Chip & Dale, and began my walk through World Showcase!! I had decided that I might want some Fish & Chips for lunch, but maybe something else, and I was already on the right side of the park, so I started my journey across the world in Canada! Seemed kinda familiar? Well, sort of….haha….as anyone who has a country in World Showcase knows, that’s not exactly all the country has to offer, but, you know, it’s all cool!

139-1.jpg

140-1.jpg

141-1.jpg

I was in need of some water at this point, and more so in need of some smart water, I like it better than Dasani, and it’s ok that it costs a bit more, because it honestly does taste better. I don’t like the metallic taste of Dasani! I know, kinda weird, but whatevs!

142-1.jpg

So, when I came across the Canada drink booth, and saw they had smart water, I was sure to stop for some! I then quickly checked through the little booth they have there, and started chatting to the cm’s, mainly to see where they’re from. We then had a little chat about how the pavilion was seriously lacking, and that it really is just like being in Banff in there. Seriously….that’s what the mountains are like, and that’s it, there’s a lot more to Canada than just bears, moose, and maple syrup. Although the hockey is pretty accurate, and it also makes me extremely happy that they have a lot of hockey stuff, but not a single Edmonton Oilers thing in the gift shop. HA!

143-1.jpg

After meeting some people from my country, I moved on along my walk through World Showcase! It was absolutely gorgeous today, not super hot, I still had a sweater on, but then again, I was wearing shorts. I love walking WS, around the lake, so beautiful, I don’t think I could ever take enough shots around it!

145-2.jpg

When I hit UK, I realized I didn’t want fish & chips, too greasy for me. While I was thinking about where else to grab lunch, a group of people came frantically running past, and one of the girls came up to me, saying that they were doing a scavenger hunt, and needed a picture of one of their friends kissing a cute girl on the cheek in the phonebooth! Well, I took it as a compliment and said sure! Now I wish I had managed to get a picture of it with my camera, but I totally blanked, and didn’t! They said thank you and quickly were on their way! I figured that since I was in the UK, and well, we all know my history with Tigger, I should probably stop in to see him & Pooh! They weren’t in the back of their shop as usual, but there was a sign directing people over to the International Gateway where they’d be meeting instead. Along the way I took this picture:

146-1.jpg

And tweeted “I could be somewhere with this architecture?”, since at this point, I was doing a twitter adventure, tweeting random pics, trying to get everyone to figure out where I was! (Later in the day I posted one of the castle, giving the ultimate answer!) And then jutted around the corner to see Pooh & Tigger out with not much of a line! These adorable pics came with the photopass, so I figured I’d include them!

Photo0042FourBySix-1.jpg

Photo0043FourBySix-1.jpg

Ahhh! Boyfriend!!! When I made it to the front of the line, I jumped up between Tigger & Pooh, and Tigger did the “look up & down” then turned around to the rest of the line and “primped” himself properly! He knows his girlfriend when he sees her! Bahaha!

Photo0048FourBySix-1.jpg

Yup! They were amazing, Tigger took the lead in characters of the day! He was just awesome, I’ve had some great interactions before, but this one just made it, I even actually felt bad for Pooh this time! Haha. And then, I said good bye to my bf, and made on my way to the next country for another adventure!

You had some really cute interactions! Stitch is probably my favorite (and, really, one of my favorite movies). I may be slightly biased about Stitch, if only because I love Lilo (and Nani!) SO much. It's one of my very favorite Disney movies and I may be slightly distrustful of people who don't like it. :rotfl:

Mmmmm, maple syrup. The Canada pavilion definitely needs more waffles! :thumbsup2 I do love the maple leaf fence, it's one of my favorite little details around World Showcase. Really simple, but very effective.

Heh, I just saw the Just Married border on the one PP picture and I was all.. 'I wonder why that's there..?' and then I got it. ;) It's a really great picture!

I do my best to get the best interactions I can get! I love them so much, and one of my things I'm trying to do is chat more, I have a tendancy to just stay quiet and let whoever I'm with do the talking, especially with non-face characters, but solo, it's kidna hard to do it!

Haha!! Maple Syrup candies are by far one of my favorite things in the world, so yummy!! Hahaha!! Yeah, there's always a story behind things like that, :cloud9:

Hello out there friends!! I just have to jump in here & update you all on what's going on with my life currently. I am writing this from the Calgary airport, and am actually, on my way to DisneyLand!! (surprise....)

THUS, I may be a little lagging on the updates, depending if there is wireless at the hotel or not. (I pre type all my updates in word, so I just have to copy & paste the updates).

Now, to tell you about the trip!

Today(3rd): Arrive, head to the ticket office to pick up my PREMIER PASSPORT!!:cool1::banana: (there goes my next 3 paycheques! lol) and then I'll be heading straight into Disneyland.

4th: I'm up bright and early today, as I have: AN AUDITION!! It's for the pixar play parade (pretty much the one in DHS). I have no clue how long it will take, but if not long, I'll head into the park that night too!

5th:Disneyland

6th: Disney's California Adventure.

I don't really have a whole bunch of plans for the trip, just kinda go with the flow, you know. I'm travelling solo again, and staying off property (although with DLR, it almost seems useless to stay ON property!)

I hope you all have an awesome week!!

Wow! How exciting! Wishing you lots of luck on you audition. Knock 'em dead!

Hey girl :) I found your TR the other day and I read the intro and I'm liking your writing style! So immhere to read along! Yay! Time to catch up!

Ahhh I can just imagine the feeling of landing in Orlando.bthatsmmy favorite feeling in the world!

I love Disney children! They melt my heart.

Yay for the Polynesian! That's one resort I haven't stayed at but I go there SO much so I can go to the restaurants lol

What a beautiful room!

-------

I LOVE hitting the Town Square meet and greet when it's empty! That's just the best thing in the world! VIP definitely!

NAVEEN?!?!?!?!? OH MY GOD HOW LUCKY!!!

Hahaha omg I love the conversation that you had with them about bein charolette! You should totally be hernfornhalloween!

------

Mm that mango passion cupcake sounds good! What an interesting flavor!

I'm glad you liked Stacey a lot this trip lol

------

Cake for breakfast is completely acceptable in Disney :thumbsup2

If you decide to get into pin trading... Order a bulk supply of them on eBay (like 25 or 50) so you can get them really cheap.. And then you can just trade for the ones you like with the CM's! It's perfect :)

Ah what a wonderful morning! Front row is the best on any ride!

------

Cute picture with Louie and Baloo!

------

Omg 115 pounds is tiny! I bet you could totally do that job though. You look like a dancer!

You are SO right about the lion section lol :thumbsup2

If I exercised as much as the tumble monkeys... I would eat EVERYTHING. LOL

The Disney entertainment system blows my mind too. I just want to know how it all works. And I just want a job. I would work for them forever and never want another job. It would be perfect.

------

I like that maple leaf fence picture!

I LOVE TIGGER!

------

Okay I'm all caught up :wizard: loving it do far! I have never read a solo trip report and it sounds like you're having a ton of fun already!

I definitely liked the fact that it wasn't too busy, and I could actually stop to look at some stuff without bein afraid of a bunch of people jumping infront of me in line for the ride! I haven't actually actually signed up yet, as we're in the middle of the season. I think classes open up again in May, in which I'll be taking jazz & ballet, but for now, I'll be doing some drop in classes!

I somehow missed this...?

Ah, the comp sounds like so much fun! I'm only really good at the waltz out of those (my teacher always put salsa/mambo at a higher priority than cha-cha/jive and they're fun, but I like watching jive a lot. Quickstep on the other hand... :scared1: We don't get along!).

I love drop in classes because they're way more casual (at least they were at my studio). No one is expecting you to be at a certain level/make a certain amount of progress and it's more at your own speed.

Yeah, I like it when I'm with someone that's way chattier because I'm so bad at being natural with the 'interesting' character speak. Once it's started I can go along with it, but I never know how to bring it up! I think I'd like to start asking if I can take their pictures next time, if only because I hate getting my picture taken and I like my pictures better than a lot of photopass ones! :goodvibes

I don't really have a whole bunch of plans for the trip, just kinda go with the flow, you know. I'm travelling solo again, and staying off property (although with DLR, it almost seems useless to stay ON property!)

I hope you all have an awesome week!!

Good luck with your audition! Go to the little bar-thingy in the Disneyland Resort (the Adventurer's Club-esque one) because I can't! Congrats on your uber-fancypants ticket!!
