It's raining, it's pouring.... What to do, esp w/ the Spirit of Aloha show?

:surfweb:We've got ADRs for the 5:15 show.

I understand they make the decision on whether or not they cancel in the 10-15 mins before the show time.:scared1:

If memory serves me, the "holding area" is outside & not under cover...:scared1:

Have already considered backup reservations at Ohanas/Kona Cafe (nothing avail) or at other nearby areas (we weren't going to go to a park today.. because it's raining! lol!), but can't cancel this one without paying the prices, so would rather the mouse either held the show or cancel it early.

Any comments on what to do?
Any past experiences?:surfweb:

It won't be cancelled for just rain. In a heavy storm with wind, it will be cancelled. It is possible you won't hear about it until you get there. because it's too late for you to cancel just in case, it's probably best to just have a backup reservation. Maybe at Downtown Disney or somewhere that it might be easier to get reservations.

I am sure they won't make you stand outside waiting for news at the Polynesian. You should be able to get the information regarding a cancellation while inside the Great Ceremonial House.

If you are at a resort, check with your lobby concierge. They might be able to get the information for you should the luau be cancelled early.

It's been years since we saw this show and it poured most of that day. They did not cancel and we watched the show. It really wasn't too bad. We waited inside until really close to the show and then used an umbrella while walking the path to get to the show. I think if our seats had been closer to the outer edges, it would have been awful due to the rain blowing a bit, but since we were in the middle, we stayed dry while watching the show. Obviously it wasn't ideal, but it wasn't a deal breaker for us...we still had a great time! :goodvibes

Thanks guys!

2 of my party are at the Florida Mall, and will be hustling back for the show (Didn't bring cell phones, figured miminal need so why bother, and they'll be using either public buses or maybe a cab to get there).
I was concerned about them hustling back only to find the show would be cancelled.
It's not that bad out there, just rain and low winds.

We are here too (POR) we did mk this morn. Most everything was walk on until around lunch time. Then we called it quits. I am debating on wether to go back after dinner. I hv been to Disney almost every year for the past 8 years and this is the only time it's rained all day long. Oh well had to happen sometime... Good luck with your show :)

The last time we saw this was years back when it was still called the Luau. It was on a cool side and there was a driving rain and wind coming off the lake. They staged everyone just inside the door in the Poly and handed out umbrellas. On a cast member command, we all made a dash past the marina and at least half the umbrellas got destroyed by the wind. We got to the pavilion and the rain stopped, but everyone was drenched (our ponchos weren't much help) and the wind was still blowing. The show went on, but most people, including us, left right after having something to eat. Even Disney can't control the weather. They probably had good information that the rain would stop in time, but if you get even a little wet going in it can make for an unpleasant experience.
