For those of you that remember the story last Christmas about my fellow teacher, her infant daughter, and the babysitter, the ordeal is finally over!! After over a year, the witch that shook precious Hannah has plead GUILTY!!!! We are obviously beyond excited. This all just took place this morning. For those in the Atlanta area, channels 2, 46, and perhaps Fox are covering the story. Channel 46 will have it at noon and 5:00 while Channel 2 will be at 5:00 only. I think Channel 46 is even going to try and visit Hannah at home today. For Lori, Jay, and Hannah, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and good wishes. The sentencing will be in a month, so I'll update you all then. Apparently, when the woman was told that she could receive a maximum sentence of 40 years she passed out on the court room floor. I just pray now that she will at least serve SOME amount of time. This is a wonderful day and this time the justice system worked. It's been a long and difficult year and no one knows just how Hannah will be in the long run, but at least for now, there is peace. Thanks again everyone!

I wasn't here then, but I'm glad things turned out ok.

Thanks for letting us know. What is Hannah's state of health right now? Did this woman injure her? (I missed this previously).

At the moment, Hannah is doing very well. I'll try to find the old thread and post a link to the information. It was a horrible, horrible time for the family. Hannah spent her first Christmas at Scottish Rite with drain tubes coming from her head. It was just awful. If Lori had not gotten to Hannah when she did and if we were not fortunate enough to have such an incredible children's hospital 45 minutes away, the outcome would have been much more tragic.

I am glad that she pled guilty, and once she is sentenced, this part of the nightmare will be over.

Sounds like very good news. Hope Hannah is doing o.k, that´s the most important thing.

I am so glad that she plead guilty. I hope she gets the maximum.

I'm having a hard time finding the original thread, but I'm still looking. I saw the piece that one of the channels did just a few moments ago. Of course, I got all teary eyed seeing the video from last Christmas. As I said, at the moment Hannah is doing well. Of course, this something that will follow the family forever. She is only 18 months old and no one knows for sure what the lasting effects will be. Hannah was very near death when she was rushed to Scottish Rite. There was just so much blood on her brain and for a time there was a concern that she would lose her eyesight. She is a miracle baby, but that should not influence the severity of the sentence.

I do remember this from last year. Here's hoping that witch gets the maximum and is never allowed near children again. I hope Hannah is doing well,, and continues to do so

I don't remember this either from last year....but I am so glad justice is being served today!!

Can you use another word than "witch"? Thanks.
We'd never, never do that to any child.

:grouphug: To hannah and her family! I am so glad to hear this , Please keep us updated.

I remember praying for Hannah. I hope she is doing well.

That is great news.

I think about Hannah often and was wondering what ever happened.

:grouphug: What a relief for that family. I'm glad Hannah is doing well at this time. I agree, I hope the witch gets whats coming to her. That is just awful.
I'm here in Atlanta (and work at SR) so I'll keep an eye out for the report.

Thank you for posting an update to this story. I have followed this very closely with you. I am glad to see this woman had a shread of conscience left and plead guilty.

I pray that baby Hannah has a healthy and happy future ahead of her.

Was it shaken baby syndrome? I am so sorry that Hannah and her family have suffered.

Yes, it was shaken baby syndrome-a nightmare no parent should ever have to endure.

I remember your story. I'm glad Hannah is doing well and I hope the caregiver gets the maximum sentence.
