Well I guess it is official. DS starting crawling last night!
For the past month - 6 weeks he has used a combination of scooting, rolling, etc. to get around but it was not super efficient and he couldn't get too far very fast. The last few days we had seen progress towards a traditional crawl since he would crawl forward 1-2 steps but then he would stop and let his knees go out from under him.
Last night he was sitting playing by the love seat in the living room when I saw him start to come towards me on the sofa. I expected him to just go forward a little bit but he just kept coming!
I was so excited for him and he made it all the way over to the couch to see me.
He loves his new skill and he was determined to wear himself out last night exploring even more of our house. In fact we could not even get him changed into his sleeper without him starting to crawl away.
We also discovered that we are not going to be able to leave ANYTHING down. The most innocent (and not so innocent) of things are magnets to him!
Just last night he found a magazine that had been left down, the box of wipes and tube of Desitin that is usually left of the floor for our easy access, a ball the dog let roll behind the chair and the electrical plug in thing we use to recharge the cell phone.
I am very excited for him because his world will really get to expand now but it is going to be a brand new difficult challenge for DH and I.
