Its official - another motel coming here

Hi there - Norm and I have been watching this one site as you come over the bridge into Cape Canaveral off of Hwy 528 - we guessed it would be condos (I thought a hotel) and signs were finally put up - its going to a motel with rooms and suites - its going to be BEFORE you get to RacTrac and the Radisson - Now they haven't even started or when it will be finished, but will keep you posted - also the new Publix in front of Durangos is going to be awesome - the landscaping is almost finished - I understand it will be opened the first week in October - so Cape Canaveral is "growing" up - I can remember when anyone living in Cape Canaveral said they lived on the "outside of Cocoa Beach" - Anyhow I believe you are really going to like the changes tho not the traffic -

Shirley, do you know if it is going to be a national chain or something locally owned? Just wondering if it will be something I can use or earn points on! Thanks for keeping us updated. Sounds like it's going to look completely different by the time I get back to Cape Canaveral again!!

Shirley: Sorry I don't know the area at all, but since I'm crusing late Oct, is the new Publix within walking distance to the port. Just thinking if I can pick up anything before boarding. Since I am flying in on the day of the cruise, and taking DCL transporation I won't have a chance to bring anything with me. Looking for a couple of bottles of wine, a few bottles of water, maybe some Beer for DH. that sort of thing.

I can answer that one....no, unfortunately there is nothing within walking distance of the port area. The closest place would be the Race Trac gas station that has a convenience store but it is not within walking distance and the roads are very busy there.

Why not have Shirley put a basket together for you with some beer and snacks and have it delivered to your cabin as a surprise!!! This way no shopping or lugging involved!!!

Hey Michelle, you are going to going on the same cruise as us, so if you decide you want anything just PM me. We are coming down Friday and will be stopping at a store before we go to the port. We will be bringing on a case of soda and a bottle of wine. I'm sure we can pack a few things for you. Then we can hook up before the Boat drill. Just let me know.

The new motel may be owned by the same owners as the Radisson - I am looking into it sometime this week and as soon as I find out will post - also the new Publix is EXALTY 2 miles South of the Radisson on the West side - right next door to Holiday Inn Express and accross from Durango's Steak House - there will be about 15 shops also there - we also now have a Tips and Toes Salon about 1 and 3/4 miles south of the Radisson if anyone has a need for that - if you need a great hair stylist, we have Sondra here called Studio One (its at the same plaza where TPG is) - none of the above are in walking distances to the places I mentioned except the new motel - Unfortunalty you need wheels to get to these places - I wish a Walmart etc would have opened here, but no longer any space left in CC or CB.

As always, thanks Shirley! I'm trying to picture exactly where this new motel will be, especially since it's going to be within walking distance!! That was a very wise move though and should have no problem with getting business!
