it's not just the kid's menu that's changing

Well that may be great and healthy.

But they will not be happy when people start going off sight for their fatty foods.

It's they same as not selling Gum ,Cigs or Pepsi. If people want it they will go get it.

Lets face it American people want this stuff or it wouldn't be a trillion dollar a year money maker.

gimme a break. I realize transfats are bad for you, but guess what i'm an adult and i can make my own decisions. Im on vacation for goodness sakes, i'll worry about transfats when i get home.

There's plenty of articals around on Disney going healthy. Last year or two same thing McDee's getting kicked out due to fatty fries.

I worked for McDee's 22 years ago and they were even then trying to do something with their fries. They are still working on it.

But what they are realising is when they change them they just DON'T sell and people don't want them so they go back to the standard.

Disney will make the changes but I bet you the farm if sales go down they will switch right back to them .

I am glad that Disney is changing to a more healthy menu ... my kids are use to healthy home cooked meals and I pack their lunchs everyday (5th and 8th graders.) Everytime we go to Disney they get sick from all the fatty, processed foods (they hate french fries, chicken nuggets, pizza, hambugers and all that gross stuff.) Let people get stuff outside of the parks if they want ... I like that Disney does not sell just "anything" because they can make a buck at it.

They may go offsite to get it but it will be a pain to do so, and probably won't eat as much as they would if Disney served it. Kind of like smoking. Now that you can't smoke anywhere, inevitably people have either cut down or quit completely.

Quite agree :thumbsup2

For all we know, far more people will say they'd go off-site than actually will, and some folks who wouldn't otherwise eat on-site will start doing so. The good PR Disney gets from this change could very well help fill a few more hotel rooms, sell a few more consumer products, and get a few more folks to pay to see some of their movies.

Or, as I believe is more likely, will have the exact opposite effect.

We wont be going which is a group of 12 if this doesnt change. Hows that for believe or hope?

Whatever Bicker, you are such an apoligist that youll back up anything they do.

How ridiculous :confused3. Removing trans fats from food will make you change your vacation plans :confused3

Getting antagonistic over the removal of a fat that is known to kill :sad2:

Believe me - Disney is not going to stop selling burgers, fries and chicken nuggets. It's just not going to happen. They are just trying to prepare them without trans fats.

Bicker - I'm with you - excellent news.

Just because they remove trans fat doesnt mean the food won't be good. I am sure they will offer lots of yummy things.

During my trip last week I thought to myself " How long till WDW gets sued for making people fat?" I laughed when thinking of this.

On the DDP my chocolate, sugar lovin son was refusing dessert by day 4! I've never seen that happen before.

I do think people get way too emotional about things like this. It's just business, folks. Disney's doing what is best for them; you do what's best for you. The key is to not get frustrated just because what's best for them isn't what you want them to do. You need to adjust to the changes you encounter, just like Disney does.

Do you really think Disney wants to switch to higher-cost fats for its frying? Of course not. They're making these changes because they see that they'll sell more vacations this way. That will make up for the higher cost of trans-fat free frying, and the costs of putting in place new, healthier menus, etc. And they'll do it just to the extent that is necessary to gain the advantages they want to gain, no more.

Disney needs to adjust to the environment it is presented; we need to adjust to the environment we are presented. No recriminations. No one is a villian.

ITA. When Florida passed a law outlawing smoking in all restaurants people were acting like it was the end of the world. Restaurant owners were convinced they would lose tons of business. Two years later, it's no big deal. People adjusted just fine. Although this wasn't a business decision by the state of Florida I think they knew that tax revenues wouldn't decrease - and they haven't. Smokers still eat out. And for nonsmokers the change has been wonderful. To never be asked "smoking or nonsmoking" is a beautiful thing. I consider the changes made by Disney to be in the same genre. The fact is that fried, fat-laden food is unhealthy - as much so as smoking in my view. If people want to choose the lifestyle of unhealthy eating then that is their choice but I don't see why restaurants should be under some obligation to contribute to it. I just don't. As someone who has struggled with weight issues I appreciate that Disney is doing this. My own daughter doesn't have my issues because we made sure early on to insist on healthy eating. There was no McDonald's in this house for years. We don't generally eat fried food. Dessert isn't a requisite part of every meal. As a result, these changes probably wouldn't bother us at all (she's eleven now). nd we don't change our habits on vacation.

Sounds like a wonderful change to me :cool1: ! Disney has always made everything wonderful and this will be no exception. I am sure the changes to the foods will be a welcomed change and yummy to boot. I would find it hard to believe that a family of 12 would choose not to go to Disney because they can not fill their bellies with fatty food...seems a bit silly to me...but maybe some people only go to Disney to eat. But if all you want out of a vacation is transfat, then I would just stay home and save the money. I know that kids are really having a tough time with being overweight, so I am hoping these changes help them the most. I always feel so terrible for a child struggling with weight....gosh, we have our entire lives to worry about weight, sad to have to deal with it so young.

I am jumping off my soap box now :rotfl: but if you want me to climb back on...bring up people wanting to smoke in doors...that will get me climbing back up. :thumbsup2

Hugs to all and have a great day and a wonderful stay at Disney.

Mac-N-Cheese and chicken fingers are healthy? I think they should just leave things alone and let parents decided what is best for their kids and themselves!!!!
