Well we have had a lovely day, here is what we did.
We left the hotel at 8.25 am which was a bit later than normal.
We hit the Expedition Everest ride first, me and the kids hit the line whilst DH picked up fast passes for it. We walked on and rode it straight away. You are supposed to be on an expedition to Everest when the yeti makes an appearance which plunges your train backwards and down a steep drop. This is my favourite ride. We did this two times straight after each other.
Next was Kali River Rapids which was slightly different to last years ride and slightly wetter. DS17 stood this one out. We had our swim things on, so getting wet was not a problem. We enjoyed the ride but prefer the water rides at Islands the best.
We walked across to the Africa area to pick up fast passes for the safari ride. The rides line was currently 20 minutes at 10 am but why bother to line up when you can get fast passes for them. Fast passes in the bag we decided to walk around Pangani Forest Trail.
On the trail we saw monkeys, okapi, naked mole rats, insects, hippo, meerkats, gorillas. We didnt see much of the gorillas who are apparently very shy.
We then used up our fast pass for the Everest ride as we walked over to the Asia section I noted that the safari ride was now showing a 40 minute wait at 10.35 am. We also did the Dinosaur ride which was fun, this was a walk on ride showing a 5 minute wait at 10.55 am. We all did funny poses for the photos which is a family tradition now.
We saw a baby gator in the river surrounding the Tree of Life (Animal Kingdom signature sign). It was obviously proper Florida wildlife which was class.
After doing all these rides we were hungry and DS19 had requested a visit to the Pizzafari. They had pepperoni pizzas and a cheese one whilst I had a ham and cheese warm sandwich with grapes. All of which was yummy.
Our fast pass for the safari ride was due after lunch. The normal line time was showing a 50 minutes wait at 11.45 am but we were straight on. We saw quite a few animals and attempted to take some photos which was difficult in our moving bus.
As we left the safari bus I spotted the male gorillas. We spent quite a while watching the male troop. I love watching them. One started scooping up water with its hands and looked so human like. Oh forgot to say, we had someone who had been on a backscene tour of animal kingdom behind us on the bus which was quite interesting. She said the animals were trained to come in for feeding to the sound of different bells. How clever is that? The safari ride was running at a 40 minute wait at 12.40 pm.
We headed to walk round the Asia animals. Kali River Rapids was showing a 40 minute wait at 12.55 pm. We walked round the Asia animals seeing bats, tigers and birds. On our return Kali was showing a 50 minute wait at 1.10 pm.
The clouds by now had darkened quite considerably and we knew the promised rain was on its way. Not that we were particularly bothered as we had done the park. We headed out of the park after spending a little bit of time watching the ant eater. This is such a peculiar animal.
We went back to the hotel and to be honest I felt tired. Both me and DS17 crashed out, shortly followed by DH. DS19 had grabbed my computer. By this time it was raining so we were not particularly bothered. After a nap we all felt rested, barring the eldest and set off for the Florida Mall. I wasnt bothered about going now because I knew I could wander round after buying the phones yesterday so we could separate and find each other easier. Consequently I have a little spend after not being forced to wait outside the Hollister/Abercrombie & Fitch shops.
The heavens had opened and torrential rain was pouring as we left the mall. DS19 was desperate to take us to the Chipolte restaurant chain. We had preprogrammed the address in the Tom Tom as we knew it was close to the Mall.
Here I had the second best meal of the holidays. Basically it is a bit like going in a Subway. You select the type of Mexican bread you want, in our case it was burritos, then select the meat (we had chicken and beef), followed by the sauce. All our meals were burritos with beans and rice with either chicken or beef, plus either a mild, medium or hot salsa and lettuce or cheese. They also had nice fruit juices with different mixes ie like orange and peach. We all very much enjoyed this meal and definitely recommend it. You could either sit in or take out.
It was still raining when we left so we went to the Mall of Millenia. I ended up buying a few things as I was let loose, thanks to those phones we bought yesterday.
When we returned to the hotel it was only spitting so we went straight to Universal. Hitting The Mummy ride first. This is a rollercoaster ride. There was a customer service manager hiding behind a corner who made me jump much to everyones amusement.
Next we went on the Men in Black ride three times before catching the last of the days fireworks. We popped in the shop on the way out and returned to the hotel where I have now finished the blog for the day.
Which means I can now go to sleep. Night all.
