It's lovebug time!

My sister and I were there this past September 20-25th. They were really bad, and one flew in mouth while waiting for the bus one night at DTD. I about got sick right there on the spot. Couldn't cough it up, and could feel it crawling in my throat. Ugh. :sad1: When our family was there in September 2005, we didn't see a one, so I guess it varies each year.

All of a sudden the air was filled with swooping dragonflies that were grabbing the love bugs, so I think they may be a predator of the pesky little critters. I'm glad SOMETHING likes to eat them, and I wish there were more dragonflies in the southeast, as maybe they could keep the love bugs under control.

Hmm..where does one purchase dragonflies in bulk?! :lmao:

I'll take the love bugs any day over the 17 year Cicada's which will be coming out all over the Chicago area in about 3 weeks.:scared1: :scared:

This past September went to to Disney. I think it was in my bug- hating honor that the lovebugs were in full frce. We went Sept 30 to Oct7 and there were plenty of lovebugs. They were a nuisance. When we were in the parks, I held a park map and just kept swatting if they came near me. I accidenatlly squished one on my leg and I'll tell you it's true that they stink. I don;t think they would keep me from another Sept trip though. This year we'll be ther 8/25 to 9/3. I think we should be lovebug free but you never know..

how do I keep them off of my baby in her stroller? should I think about a mosquito netting for her stroller?

thanks for the good info about avoiding white.

Okay, would it be beyond cruel to simply ask everyone going prior to August 30th to squish a few each day??? Maybe then there wouldn't be quite so many when we get there. ;)

:hippie: :yay:
Oh, wait...that was a butterfly, not a love bug! OOPS!

:)

In a perfect world..

I could only imagine the carnage of all the lovebugs being squashed. Oh the sweet disgusting gore of lovebug corpses. They will just out breed the squashing anyways.

Car question. I keep reading to get the love bugs off your car to keep them from ruining your paint. What about rental cars? Do we have to clean them? Just wondering what would happen if you turned a bugged car?

How fast do you need to wash them off you car? It is something you need to do everyday or once a week?

Yes, They Do. The Love Bugs Were Created By The University As An Experiment To Rid Florida Of The Mosquito Problem.

They Live For 60 Hours And Come Out The Last Two Weeks Of Sept.

Annoying Little Buggers....
