Im really pleased about this. Im not really fussed about us actualy hosting in 2012, more that its one up on the French.

OMGosh! I called my Dad this morning (he came to US from UK 40 years ago) and he said the same thing! I was really excited when I saw the announcement, my husband (an american) didn't care in the least and didn't understand why I was jumping up and down! :cool1:

(BTW - I told my Dad I was treating him to a trip home for the olympics in 2012 - he is totally excited!)

This is superb news for both London and the UK.

I, for one, can't wait!

Whoo Hooo!

Am very excited London go the Olympics and the fact that Paris didnt makes it sweeter still. What's His name will think twice about picking on our food from now on!

Great news :bounce:

Just merged all the London 2012 threads, so we can celebrate together!

Fantastic news!!!! Can't believe we won, thought the French had it in the bag.
It will be great to have the opportunity to attend some Olympic events.

Congratulations, Londontowne!!!!

We're doing the happy dance for you over here in the States :)

Aloha,

I am so thrilled about this!

My employer was the first Premier Partner in support of the London Olympics and our "Leap Counter" has had over 1.5 million people jump through it from all over the country. The Leap Counter was people showing their support for the London bid.

Myself and 1300 other employees were all London 2012 Ambassadors and it is such a great thing for London (and the UK) I firmly believe.

Lots of bouncing here tonight!!

I am so pleased that London got the 2012 Olympics :Pinkbounc

I was watching the announcement on the tv earlier today and everyone was thrilled that we'd one. The film they made for our bid was excellent.

I'm hoping this will bring some much needed money and resources to areas of London which are in desperate need.

Does anyone know yet whereabouts each of the events will take place? I'm wondering if the yachting will take place down here on the Solent.

Astrid :cheer2:

I've heard Weymouth Astrid, but it may have been for a different event - I'm not terribly au fait with all the different boating terms :teeth:

I am jumping up and down for you guys. Never been to NYC--but when it got down to Paris and London...I was very happy!!!

And London is just fabulous!

Dumb question, when can I start booking for this shindig b/c I want to come and visit in 2012? :goodvibes :goodvibes

ETA: I am doubly pleased as I was recalling our trip last spring to England-Wales-France-London....when we returned to London, hubby was glad to be back where "y'all talk normal". I love France--but being in London makes it so much easier to convince hubby to go :wizard: .

I'm wondering if the yachting will take place down here on the Solent.

The sailing will be from Weymouth and Portland, so not too far from the New Forest Astrid!!

We're determined to go alone to see some of the events in London and with Weymouth only "down the road" we'll probably go down there for some of the sailing events.
