As many of you have probably read, ALL Disneyland Hotels are going non smoking as of March 1st.

To think this can't happen at the WDW/DVC resorts is simply naive.

It can't come soon enough for me.

I have never checked into a room where I was overwhelmed with smoke from the last guest but if I did or I had health problems, I can understand why the no smoking resorts would be a great idea. Disney isn't going to be able to do that in every market but its nice to see them take a first step in the U.S.

I wonder what they are going to do to those who break the rule and that's going to happen...

Is it higher then Disneyworld? Maybe they can a fford to lose some customers. I don't smoke but when our county went smoke free dinning the food and bar joints lost $.

The percentage of smoking rooms at WDW is already very small compared to the total number of rooms available. Losing business wouldn't be a concern, but rather enforcement of the policy. Once they figure it out, as MG says, "it's just a matter of time".

The sooner the better.

We haven't had a problem at WDW but when we stayed at Vero Beach before we were members the studio portion of our nonsmoking 2 BR reeked. We were told the resort was full and there was nothing they could do. I have asthma and couldn't be in that part for more than a minute or two. Our daughter slept in there and did fine. We kept the door shut as much as possible. Still ticks me off thinking about it.

I too am in favor of non-smoking resorts @ WDW. I just wonder if and when it will ever happen as to me there seems to be a higher concentration of Europeans that visit WDW for extensive periods of time. Many of them are smokers...would a move like this drive them offsite? This may be a valid concern for the powers-that-be.

Can't happen soon enough. We were in a non-smoking that had been smoked in and it was a real nightmare for my very allergic son--It would be nice if they figured out a way to end the mystery of will we or won't we have this problem!

I am all in favor of it too! It is such a relief to come to Florida and not have to worry about asking for non-smoking is restaurants. I am not allergic to it, but as a non-smoker, the smell really bothers me a lot. Several times we got rooms that needed to be aired out really well, and several times they needed to come in with the clean air machines and spray. UGH!

Non smotking would be great for me & my family!

As of May 1, 2006, the Walt Disney World Swan will be 100% non smoking.

The Swan has always been very popular with the Japanese visitors who also tend to be smokers. If they feel it's okay to go "smoke-free" I'm betting we will see the WDW resorts go smoke-free before long too.

I remember being shocked in the early 90s when I first started going to WDW a lot. People could smoke just about everywhere back then.

I lived in California and was just used to not being around smoke very often. To me it just seemed like there was a smoker everytime I turned around.

I'd be more impressed if they really enforced non-smoking in the parks. I am amazed at how many smokers just totally disregard the rules and walk along smoking or those who thing they are complying because the are maybe 20 yards away from a smoking area (kind of in that direction).

arminnie: Your pups are darling. We have a Barkus and Meoux parade here in NW LA later on this month. It's one of our favorite parades.

It can't happen too soon in my opinion....I welcome this to start in WDW hotel rooms!!!!! :cool1:
