It's gotcha day

3 years ago today at approximately 6pm local time our beautiful daughter was placed into my arms in a hotel in Nanning. China. DH and I will never recieve a more precious gift as long as we live.

Awwww...congratulations! When my SIL and her then DH were adopting from Korea I loved to visit the Korean adoption boards and read all the wonderful Gotcha day stories. They always made me tear up. (And that little guy will be 4 in just a couple of weeks - he has brought so much joy into his Mom's life and to all of those in our family.)

CONGRATS!

We just had our DD's Gotcha Day last Wednesday, 6/18. It was 17 YEARS!!! She came to us from South Korea and we met her at JFK Airport in NYC.

You're right -- a more precious gift we could never have dreamed of! She is now going to be a senior in HS next year and is interning at an orthopedic surgeon's office and shadowing him during his surgeries!

What a big difference from 17years ago. She was only 8 lbs. when she came home at almost 5 mos. old.

Congratulations, CEDmom!!

We have two DDs that we adopted from Colombia. They are now 12 and 14. Where has the time gone??? I can still picture the presentation room for DD14 and the circumstances for DD12 when she wasn't brought to us. Turns out she had become ill during our flight down. The presentation was made in the newborn nursery with DD12 in an incubator.

My neice(12yo from Peru) and my nephew (16 1/2 from Korea) celebrate their Gotcha day each year too. They keep it a very small, immediate family celebration, but it is a very important day. My s-i-l always says they are 2 days that will always remain clear in her mind.
