It's finally starting to get to me . . .

Isn't this the exact reason that Roy Disney ran Michael Eisner out of town? Because he felt that the company was moving in this direction? How did it still end up here?

IMO, although I'm sure very unpopular, I think a lot of the disappointment with WDW on the Dis boards have to do with too many visits. Many here visit so often that they don't appreciate the entire value of the parks. To someone who's never been, or only goes every few years, all the things "missing" aren't missed, and the things closed are just another reason to come back again in a few years. But when someone goes every year, or twice a year changes, closures, construction seem to be taken much more personally because it's "just not the same" as six months ago, or six months before that, or six months before that. Sometimes there's a such thing as "too much." No one should be sad, annoyed, or angry about trips to Disney.

OP here - I do agree and that why makes it upsetting. I like going every year. But I think it's really become a park for visiting every 2-4 years when enough new things have opened to make the cuts not as bad. With so many other places in the world to see, I just can't justify spending the money to basically do the same things I did last year.

Then how come it was great to go every year for so long? Not attacking you, just asking genuinely. I mean I'm 23 and have been at least 18 times and I've never relented going every year until now. Granted most of that was when I was a kid, but as of recently and even paying for my trips I wasn't disappointed ever with wdw until last year. I even signed up to work there for 6 months. Lol maybe that has colored my perception

Shane took the words right out of my mouth.

If all these people USED to find it entertaining enough to visit regularly, and now they do not, I don't think we can just say it is saturation. Saturation likely happened many visits ago.
I truly believe that for many of these guests it is poor ROI.
They used to feel that what they got for their investment was satisfactory, and now it is not.

Unfortunately, I agree, OP..they're taking too much away and increasing prices too much. Even with the ride closures at DLR, it hasn't seemed like so much else is going away. The Train is out of service, but they're still having the trains available to get on and talk to conductors at the Main Street station and NOS station. The Mark Twain is still available to get on, even though it's not going around the ROA..they have the captains on board to talk to, and I believe i've heard that Tiana and Louie from Princess and the Frog are meeting on the Mark Twain now as well. And yesterday they announced the return of the DCA Food and Wine Festival. Seems like DLR is adding in the midst of the construction, whereas WDW is taking away.

It's making the choice between DLR and WDW a lot easier, that's for sure.

that is the complaint seen here most often...not enough new. Or not enough new that would be considered major attractions. This may be why some are jumping ship for the park up the road, because they are opening new major attractions.

WDW does not have a food and wine festival in the spring...but they did extend Flower and Garden another couple of weeks.

Well, as long as you don't want photopass. ;)

I don't even care if they are "major" attractions. I just want net new attractions. As in things we don't have to give up something else to get. Because the crowds just keep growing and the parks need to better absorb those extra bodies.

I do have to say the addition of the food booths last year for flower and garden were awesome

Yea I could care less if there were no new attractions. My favorite ride for petes's sake is the people mover. But when the crowds get so large and then attractions are taken away with nothing new added in the present then the parks and rides that are open become unbearable. And that is my biggest complaint, the crowds. And they have no answer (presently) for them

We have been taking what we felt like was refuge from the WDW cuts with our lovely non FP+ trips to DLR. We get photopass+ every trip at DLR and love it. The pre-purchase price was $69.95. Recently DLR entirely did away with photopass+ and now the only thing they sell is a ONE DAY photopass for $40. You have to buy it separately for each day. We do 5 park days at DLR, which means if we want all of our photopass, ride and meal photos, it will now cost us $200- an almost 200% price increase!!! Not only that, but they changed the photopass website for DLR, and now there are no longer any borders, stickers etc. to add to or edit photos. So we pay 200% more and get significantly less.
I can't tell you how disappointed I am in this particular change. We also take 5+ day trips, so are also looking at that 200% increase, for a much lesser product. It's absolutely ridiculous. DLR will be hearing from us about that.

Well, yes..I am very disappointed in that, as we always got photopass+. We will be letting Disney know our feelings on that, and for the moment it's a good thing that photopass photographers will take pics with your camera as well.

This thread makes me sad. Our trip is in mid-May and is a once (maybe twice) in a lifetime trip. When we started planning last summer, I had no idea things would go downhill so fast.

My advice to you:

1. Close your browser.
2. Remember how you felt when you booked the trip? Recapture that feeling.
3. When you go to WDW in May, have a positive attitude. Enjoy the good instead of looking for the bad.

If you've never been to WDW, chances are you won't notice most of the things people are upset about anyway.

I don't think it went down hill quickly. I believe that it has been steadily happening the last few years and now people are getting more fed up and vocal about it.
Please try to enjoy your trip though! Just because people complain doesn't mean you won't have a good time. Plenty people here still enjoy it as much as day one. And I'm a newbie and have just been reading stuffb here as of recently

While I agree with most of what you are saying I have to look at things from my own perspective, as many of us do. I live in a small town in West Wales where there is literally nothing to do, especially if you are an older (and in my case single) person. Nowhere to eat out, not much shopping, even of the window type and nothing for me to spend my money on, even going to the movies isn't the pleasure it used to be now that people cannot keep their mouths shut or phones off for the duration of a film. So my two weeks twice a year are huge to me, just being able to go out in an evening to eat out or for a coffee or browse around the shops or stroll around the park are treats I cannot have here at home. I can live with Soarin' being closed this trip or less M&G and while I am disappointed about SWW, it's not the end of the world as there is plenty more to do, like reservations at Kona Cafe and Boma (a first for me). I'm looking forward to a holiday sandwich at EoS and a chocolate malt at Ghiradellis, Mickey waffles for breakfast and most of all for my next trip cheering on Team GB at the Invictus games at ESPN. Despite being a regular visitor at quite an expense from the UK I still find plenty to do, in fact I just booked a December visit just to see the resort decorations and not to endure the awful run up to Christmas I had this year. Yes, there is construction and attraction closures and I can't blame people for waiting until things start to open, but, I'm still keeping my AP and I will still find plenty to do, even if it is just sitting by the pool with a lovely cold drink.

Well that's the i chose something different as in DCL, there I you can sit by the pool with a cold drink for a lot less money in some cases and not have to deal with the crowds/heat
