It's beginning to get ugly ...

It started to get ugly this a.m. :) Up to now we had a small group of "pin friends" - less than 10 guests - waiting every Saturday a.m. Actually most of us just met last month :). Last week a nearby Store apparently was short a few pins. This week several of their guests came to my local Store. Thank goodness we had errands to run early because we arrived at the mall shortly after 9 a.m. & we were first. Prior to this week we would arrive around 9:30-9:35 & we were #1 or #2 in line. We "pin friends" have a self assigned number system based on the time of your first arrival & abide by it when we get to the cash register. Some "new" guests didn't appreciate being informally assigned a number based on when they first arrived, but they quickly realized they were outnumbered :). I say first arrived because once you get a number, you can leave to got to the rest room or get coffee or a free sample of a cinnamon pastry in the food court.

Our group got larger this week(but still orderly). Last week people who missed out knew to come earlier and people from out of town were there. I missed out on Dopey. Next week are most of the pins I really want. So I will definitely be there earlier. Also got a coupon for $5 off any $25.00 purchase week of 10/28-11/4. Week of 11/3 are the fewest pins I want, so maybe I'll buy the binder to put the millennium series pins in.

I agree that it's getting ugly. Today was the first day I got mad. We've been at the DS every week except the first one (thought we'd not collect the pins but should've known better!). Anyway, today my 3 kids and I (3 mos, 3 and 5) got there at 9:45. We were the first ones there and today was the first day that we weren't the only ones there when the store opened. A few minutes before they opened 3 women came with a 6-7 year old in a mall stroller. When the CM started to open the gates my daughter said that we should go on in. I proceeded to explain to her that we should be patient and wait for the CM to finish and not rush in. Well one of the women glared at me as though this was unheard of. As soon as the CM opened the gates they rushed in front of us and proceeded to block the pin rack with the stroller that the kid was no longer in. I got mad. My 2 girls have been going each week with me and pick what they like and couldn't get near it. My 3 year old asked if I could get her pin for her and the lady proceeded to move and block my way. I was mad by now. I turned and explained to my 3 y.o. that some people weren't as thoughtful as others and could be downright rude. Told her we were better than that and although we had waited already, we'd get our pins just the same as soon as we could reach them. I'm telling you, I'm new to this pin collecting and trading, but some of these people are so thoughtless that it ticks me off. I hope they don't come back next week because I'll really blow up if they do it again. Sorry, but I had to vent.

Michelle, venting is encouraged here :)! This week's TDS pins are supposed to be at the cash register when the store opens. CMs are supposed to limit the pins to two per guest. All guests should be serviced in order. Our Store displays a set each week in the display case at the cash register. The point of having pins at the cash register is to avoid the type of problem you encountered this a.m. It is ashame other people, not you, show children a poor example.

Agree. This week was getting a little too ugly. But it wasn't the guests being rude. They were getting very upset because of no Figaro pins and then even those at the front of the line being told (not asked) they could only buy one of each style.
This week was really botched.
I have been leaving my house at 9:00 a.m. It only takes me maybe 10 minutes from here to be inside the mall. I was #2 in line; DH #3. It wasn't very long at all before we had people lined up behind us.
The line gets longer and longer (and friendlier) each week. The people have been orderly. But by today's standards, I think the guests are fed up with the SMALL quantities sold at the store. They could easily be selling double to triple the number.
I can see I will be getting there earlier and earlier each week.
The CM at the other store told us they arrived at 7:00 and people had been waiting in line since 6:30!

I've only had good experiences at our store (Syracuse). But, I must admit, today was a little more hectic than usual. They ran out of Figaro very soon. I think I got the last one at about tenth in line...... I know, that's much better than some stores. They also ran out of Disco Mickey and Haunted House right away, I didn't get either. But, I'll still be back in line next week. We actually have a great time. There is a core group of us every week that have become friends. And, I suppose that's what it is all about!

Chris :jester:

Yeah....me & the misses are going out sometimes to get the pins....sometimes not?
Why you ask....cause I might go ballistic on the person who budges infront of me & blocks the pins....:bounce: KIDDING< LOL>:bounce:
No really, I have a feeling that with patience we will get these pins...plus some people in slower regions are getting extra's that don't run out to use to trade when they come to disney world....I remember the last collection alot ended up on laynards..(they are out on them now if your looking)...but anyway..I'll get them, wether it be now or later I'm becoming more relaxed at the pace with which I get this collection.....but if you gotta vent this is the best place to do it...speaking of venting...
I GOTTA GET THE PARIS & CALI PTP"S>>>PLEASE!@!!!!!!
Ok I feel better ........:D
