It's been awhile...looking for updated tips & advice

I used these boards to gain a world of information several years ago, and that was our last WDW trip. I am considering surprising our 2 daughters with an October trip. Here's my question--what is your updated advice for what apps, technology, etc. I should be using to plan the trip. I know there's a lot to catch up on, and I am just beginning. I've turned to the experts to get me started. Thanks so much!
