I spent a good part of the day crushing my dried basil. I have so much I didn't know what else to do with it since I didn't want to make pesto like last year.

I like pesto, but not a lot. If I haven't had it for a while it's awesome, but two meal later I'm thinking this again. And DS doesn't, and that is the major problem.

It's taken until my DS has turned 11 before he likes pesto as a sauce with pasta.

I don't have a lot of space compared to a farm or a co-op share. But I managed to put down:

• 9 - 10 corn "stalks?"
• 7 snowpeas seedlings
• 6 eggplants seedlings
• 3 zucchini seedlings
• 16 lettuce seedlings

I've left enough space for two tomato plants; which should go down after the first week of November.


Next on my hit list will be herbs. They make really good ground cover and I have space for about 6 - 7 herb bushes in the front.

I'm also planning on getting some strawberries, I think. I just need to take a look at the back and work out if I have space for them.

This looks really good. Do you or have you tried starting the tomato plants inside? Near me people do this otherwise the plants will barely flower. And the tomatos I get from the Co Op are not very good. I don't eat them so I'm not sure how they tasts, but most are green.

Tomatoes and I....well....we've never been friends at all.

I've tried every variety available, starting it inside, leaving it outside, growing it in a pot, growing it in the ground.

Not much luck at all! Well.....except for the cherry tomato variety. That grows reasonably in my garden.

This year, I am determined that I'm going to have a good crop of tomatoes. I been getting heirloom tomatoes varieties lately....this year, I think I'm going to try the hybrid ones!!!

I know. I was about 17 at a cross country meet having pizza afterward when i went pesto is awesome. Went home asked why we didn't eat it? Because you don't like it. Wish they had tried to get me to eat it more often.

I don't think I even had pesto till I was 22! Definitely not an Asian thing!
