Just been reading some great information from Hyrdroguy on this forum. Thank you so much for all the information :)

I see you have mentioned that "IASW goes down every October/November (kind of average season) to add holiday overlays".

Is this all of October or later on in October?

Was thinking of possibly planning a trip for Oct 11-18 for our Daughters 4th birthday and our first family trip to Disneyland. Hoping airfares come way down as at the moment over $4000 to get there.

However if IASW after all is out of action it kind of doesn't feel right to go.

My six year old daughters like IASW as does my wife but as for me it is one of my top 5 attractions at WDW. I can’t ride it too many times. Over the last four years we have been once end of October for their birthday and twice end of November and it was operating fully each trip including this last November.

Check the historical info for IASW schedule for Refurb's

Check the end of October for the last several year to see when it goes on the Refurb List.
Then check in November to see when it's back.

Keep in mind October will have Mickey's Halloween Parties.
Disney may schedule 2 to 3 parties through the week. Those nights the park hosting the party will close to the public very early, 6pm or 7pm is what it has been the last few years.

Just to be clear, OP is talking about the DLR version.

@kirstyfly it goes down in mid to late October every year. We were there the last week of October in 2015 and didn't get to ride. It's open again by the time the holiday season debuts in early November. You should be fine with your dates but it's never guaranteed. Just keep an eye on the refurb schedule in case it closes during your trip so you know to ride it early (and maybe often? ;))
