It's A Small World changes/renovation

This RUMOR about changes is at Disneyland not Disney World.. And as such I'll be moving this to the Disneyland board.

Thanks,

Knox

I think the updates would be great.....I have never been impressed with the rainforest scene. Adding an American scene does not offend me at all, especially as DL does not have either the hall of presidents or the American adventure like WDW.
I do like your idea to dress the dolls like the Disney characters.

I am a sometime-blogger for neatorama and mentalfloss.com and sometimes end up writing about Disney... I just can't help myself. Anyway, I just wrote an article about the It's A Small World changes and wondered what you all thought, since you're insiders :) Here's the article, if anyone is interested!

I do NOT like the idea of putting characters in IASW. I do think if they are going to add an America scene that it would be appropriate for some of the dolls there to be wearing mouse ears- Disneyland can be represented just like London Bridge as an icon of the culture.

Ideally I'd like them to leave it the heck alone, but apparently someone just had to monkey with it. :(

I'm ok with the characters as long as they are tastefully put in and in keeping with the artwork. If they wish to put in an American section that is ok too as long as it keeps in theme with the ride. I don't want a forced tribute to America in there that totally breaks off the theme of the ride just for the sake of saying we have a tribute to America in there.

I would have like to see more of a tribute for Canada. There may be more of a tribute than I relise but everytime I'm on there I try to find the part for Canada and all I ever seem to be able to find is the mountie just before you go through one of the tunnels into the next room. Its not even a doll.

Well, some things I like and some I don't. I am thrilled that they are going to do more for America. It always bothered me that the only representations I could find for American was the cowboy and Indian at the end. I know I am not the only who felt this way, as friends of mine have also commented on it.

I am not thrilled that they are adding characters. If the characters don't match the rest of the ride, it will stand out and not look good. I think it would be cute if the dolls were dressed as characters. That would be okay.

I am sorry to see the whole rainforest go away. I liked that scene a lot. I would have rather seen them find a way to fit N. America into the beginning and include both Canada and America together.
